Executive Summary - 1

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The Human Resources Department (HR) oversees the hiring process for all District personnel. The Hiring Data Report: F14 – SP15 contains statistics on the academic year F14 – SP15 new employee hires by employee type, gender, ethnicity, and EEOC categories: disabled, gay/lesbian, and veteran. This data originates from the volunteer demographic data provided by applicants during the application stage of a hiring process.

The Employee Data Report: contains statistics compiled as of Fall 2014 on the number of employees sorted by employee type, gender, and ethnicity and generated from the data provided to the State Chancellor’s Office by the District’s IT and Research & Planning Departments.

During academic year 2014-2015 hiring efforts continued to focus on filling administrative and full-time faculty vacancies.

Recruiting and advertising were focused and targeted in various local, state, and national media such as the California Community College Registry, education publications such as the Chronicle of Higher Education, newspapers, trade journals, and on various employment websites and job boards. The HR staff also attended the annual California Community College Registry job fair. The District also contracts with Jobelephant, a recruitment advertising company that places CCSF job ads in cccregistry.org, CSU East Bay JOBS4U, CSU Sacramento J.O.B., UC Berkeley’s CalJobs, Insidehighered.com, Higheredjobs.com, sfbay.craigslist.org, AsiansinHigherEd.com, IMDiversity.com, BlacksinHigherEd.com, HispanicsinHigherEd.com., etc. Additionally, the HR staff works with departments to identify targeted, discipline-specific advertisement in trade journals, job boards, websites, etc.

HIRING DATA REPORT

FULL-TIME FACULTY HIRES Pages 1 - 11

The Full-Time Faculty new hires section on pages 1 through 11 contain EEO data on full-time faculty hired during the F14 - SP15 academic year.

No full-time faculty were hired during the Fall 2014 semester; however one (1) long-term substitute and one (1) full-time categorical faculty were hired.

The Spring 2015 full-time faculty hires’ data: 10 tenure-track, 1 long-term substitute, and 1 categorical funded are illustrated on pages 5through 7.

The pie chart on page 8 summarizes the F14-SP15 data; and the pie chart on page 9 shows that 70% of the full-time tenure-track hired were from in-house or current part-time employees.

PART-TIME FACULTY HIRES pages 12- 15

Pages 12 through 15 contain the F14-SP15 part-time faculty new hires, a total of 133. The pie chart on page 15 shows that, 59 or 44% were hired from part-time pool hires and the remaining 78 or 56% were emergency hires.

Classified New Hires pages 16 - 18

The Classified Hiring Unit has steadily worked to fill positions throughout the District that had been vacant for multiple fiscal years.

Pages 16 through 18 contain a summary of the Classified hiring of new hires and position movement. Position movement reflects promotions and changes in job classifications for current College employees including, but not limited to, Civil Service status change and expired, limited tenure.

Positions Applicant Status Screening Report pages 19 – 29

The Applicant Status Screening Report located on pages 19 through 29 reflects applicant pools data for each of the full-time tenure-track faculty and administrative positions filled during the F14-SP15. For EEO compliance, applicants are tracked by gender and ethnicity at each step of the hiring process workflow. The data provided by applicants at the time of application is voluntary.
