Aims of the Trip
• To build resilience and self-esteem

Food
• Canteen
• Take a packed lunch for the Monday lunchtime• Free School Meals (FSM) please bring a lunch for Monday. If that is a problem,
please let us know in advance.
• All food allergies/dietary requirements can be catered for in advance – if we know about them
• Well balanced, variety of food
• No additional food will be available to buy
Groups and Rooms
• Yr4 staff are grouping the children to guarantee they are with people they get on with
• All children have been asked to choose three people they would either like to room with or be in a group with
• We can guarantee they will be with one of these
• The rooms are on one long corridor
• Boys and girls at separate ends
• 4-6 children in a room
What to do in advance
• Medical forms
• Inform us of food issues
• Source the right clothing – old clothing and lots of layers are best
• NAME everything! Especially coats and shoes
• Insurance – it is included in the price• If your child is unwell, and can’t attend you will need to obtain a Dr’s letter
and pursue an insurance claim yourself.
What to Pack
• PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT CLOTHES ARE NAMED
• It will be cold so we recommend more thin layers of clothing rather than one thick jumper for warmth. Children are required to have long sleeves for all activities.
What to Bring - Essentials
• The following is a list of ESSENTIAL items (these are checked before departure):
• Strong waterproof coat (at least one) – e.g. anorak (must be waterproof)
• Wellingtons (offer high sides for deep puddles)
• 1 bath towel
• Gloves
• Warm Hat
• 2 pairs of old trainers one pair which are suitable to get extremely wet/dirty (not canvas or plimsolls)
• Lunch (for the journey on the Monday)
• Small rucksack
What to Bring – Part 2
Required:
• Refillable drinks container
• Waterproof trousers (if you can get them)
• 2 long sleeve tops
• 3 sweatshirts/warm jumpers/fleece
• 4 pairs of jogging bottoms or trousers (NO jeans)
• 6 t-shirts
• Many changes of socks and underwear
• Nightclothes
• TOILETRIES: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, brush/comb, Vaseline/Lypsyl, deodorant (if required), (no aerosols please as they set off the fire alarms and will be taken away by staff).
Other:
• Soft toy (Mr Warwick will be taking his!)
• Bin bag (for dirty clothing)
• Book (if you wish)
• £5 in coins (no more)
What not to pack
• Medicine – must be given to the adult at check-in
• Money – must be given to an adult, in a named purse/envelope, at check-in
NO• NO electronic equipment – including; phones, cameras, i-pods, games etc
Only staff rooms have a power socket
• NO valuables – the rooms are not lockedNO torches
• NO additional food
• NO spray deodorant (it sets the fire alarms off). Roll-on is fine.
Money
• Small shop that sells souvenirs
• Children will only be allowed to buy souvenirs e.g. pencils, stickers, etc.
• They will not be allowed to buy food or drink
• Maximum £5 pocket money
• Please send change, rather than a £5 note
Morning of Departure
• Bring your child to the KS2 door between 8.45am and 9.00am• Say goodbye outside• Give money to the group leader• Give all medicine to the group leader• Show they have a waterproof coat• Show they have a packed lunch• Show they have at least two appropriate pairs of shoes• Leave children in the hall with staff• Coaches to depart approximately 10.00am• Children must be able to carry their own bags!
Morning of Departure cont.
• Leave children at the KS2 door• (parents may wait outside by the coaches)
• Coaches to depart at 10.00am
• Children must be able to carry their own bags!
During the Trip
• Website will be updated
• Staff will take photos
• Please don’t ring the school office – they will have no information on individual children.
• We will ring you if there is important information to share.
• We will arrive back at approximately 3pm.
• Children should be collected from the KS2 playground as usual.
