Hilton vs Michaelhouse

16 June 2018

Message from the HeadmasterDear Parents

When one reflects on long-standing traditions it is humbling to encounter milestones which have stood the test of time. The Hilton vs Michaelhouse derby is one such milestone and this occasion is the 200th game between the schools.

To celebrate this occasion we have designed a limited edition Hilton Michaelhouse rugby jersey - I hope you have placed your order if this interests you!

We are also both delighted and privileged to welcome Mr Craig Joubert, one of South Africa’s leading rugby referees, to Hilton. Craig will honour us by blowing our 1st XV game.

Sportsmanship is the watchword for the day. Our boys are taught to play with heart, giving their all, with the ultimate goal of enjoyment. Please support your son in this spirit, respecting refereeing or umpiring decisions and congratulating both teams on superb play. The way we behave as adults who are supporting a schoolboy sporting fixture says everything about who we are as a broader community.

Please adhere to the rules and regulations about the day as detailed in the programme.

Let’s make the 200th game another great occasion to remember.

Regards,George

Our staff are extremely busy getting the campus ready therefore will not be able to assist with carrying and erecting gazebos and other equipment.

Hilton College, as is the case in so many other educational institutions, is determined to improve the awareness of our students of the need to protect the environment. One of our initiatives is an active recycling programme operating in the school. Over the past few years the quantity of recyclables which we have been able to collect has increased significantly, and we would like to continue to increase this amount exponentionally.

It would be very much appreciated if all spectators could assist us in this process by using the clearly marked bins which are distributed around the fields for recyclables. There are also numerous smaller bins for all non-recyclables. We are very fortunate at Hilton to be able to employ staff to assist with the separating of recyclables. We do not, therefore, have separate bins for glass, cans, plastic etc. All of these items can go into the same recycling bin.

Thank you very much for your participation in our recycling programme!
