Finally,summervacationwillbeuponussoonandIfoundthisquotebyEleanorBrownntosharewithyou:
“Self care is any action you purposefully take to improve your physical, emotional or spiritual well being. Too often, we do not make time for sufficient self care because we’re too busy taking care of others. Life’s demands at home, in our community and at work can take our lives out of balance. Self care can be getting more rest, eating healthier food, spending more time in thoughtful reflection, being kinder to yourself, smiling more, playing, or engaging in any activity that renews you. By making time for self care, you prepare yourself to be your best so you can share your gifts with the world. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.” -Eleanor Brownn
Have a restful and wonderful summer!

DearFriend,
Thismorning,Istoodbeforemanyofthestate’sbusinessleadersandchallengedthemto help make opioid prevention programs available in every middle school inMassachusetts. Our school districts and our teachers want to stop addiction from reaching theirstudents, butmostdon’thavetheresourcesorthemoney. It’s clear that we need to think unconventionally and aggressively to confront thisepidemic.Weneedarenewedsenseofurgency.Andweknowenforcementalonecan’tsolvethiscrisis.Weneedtogetaheadofit.Weneedtostopaddictionbeforeitstarts.Ninety percent of adults struggling with addiction started using when they wereundertheage18andhalfwereundertheageof15.InMassachusetts,werequireour schools to informstudentsof thedangersof thesedrugs but we haven’t given them the tools andmoney to do it. Our ofMice is using$700,000 in funds from settlements with CVS and Walgreens to fund preventionprogramsinschools, butitisn’tenough. In rolling out these grants, we saw an overwhelming display of communitycommitmenttoendthisepidemic.Butforeverygrantrequestwefunded, wehadtoturn down four worthy requests. Right now, in the majority of school districts inMassachusetts, there’snomoneyforthepreventionprogramsthatweknowcanhelpsavelives. So I challenge all of us to commit, right now to making prevention educationavailableforeverypublicmiddleschoolinthestate!We’reallgoingtoneedtoworktogethertomakethathappen–government,nonproMitsandthebusinesscommunity.IchallengedthebusinesscommunityasIchallengeallofyou–joinmeinthiseffort.WeliveindifMiculttimesandweMindourselvesconfrontedbyanewsetofchallenges.But I remainconMident inour futureand look forward to thehard, importantworkahead.Thanksforallyoudoforourstate,everyday.Maura
