Hilti accessories

All you need is Hilti. We provide systems for setting anchor rods without cleaning the holes.

During the process of setting anchor rods or post-installed rebars with injectable adhesive mortar, the hole cleaning operation is tedious. The use of brushes, blow-out pumps or compressed air and the resulting dust in the working environment, is undesirable with regards to both cost-efficiency and health and safety. Now you can choose - use the system for having virtuallly dust-free holes or use anchors and mortar that do not require clean holes.

Optimal for post-installed rebar connections.Holes that clean themselves.

- TE CD and YD hollow drill bits make subsequent hole cleaning completely unnecessary

- Virtually dust-free working environment

Customer testimonial

Elmeridge Cable Services

Identifying the areas of concernHilti Account Manager, Steve Johnson, called on ECS and met with Managing Director, Jim Attwood, to present the Hilti channel systems and quoted MI for a solution in a tunnel. They discussed the business requirements of ECS and it became clear that Jim wanted to improve a couple of areas of the business, to help them work more productively and efficiently. They identified that the current method of tracking tools and also downtime when tools were lost or broken, were clear issues. They also had employees swapping tools, tool breakdowns and in particular trouble

with the reciprocating saws as they kept breaking down and had 3-4 weeks repair cycles.

Hilti Fleet Management ServiceSteve identified that the Hilti Fleet Management loan, service and repair package plus high quality Hilti tools, could remove all these issues for ECS. Steve explained that with Hilti Fleet Management a fixed monthly charge covers all tool, service, and repair costs. This greatly simplifies tailor-made financial planning and would take a load of administrative work off his

company. There are no hidden costs and all tools in the fleet are replaced at regular intervals with tools of the latest generation. This helps to avoid costly downtime and ensures compliance with the latest health and safety standards.

SolutionJim signed up for Hilti Fleet Management in October 2012 and says “The tools are issued to each individual member of the field staff to use as their personal equipment. Each member of the team has a uniquely identified item of tooling which is logged on the ECS database. This has allowed the team to complete their job more efficiently, as they can keep on working, because if a tool does breakdown Hilti provides a complimentary loan tool which means less downtime”. Jim and his team are really impressed with the Hilti tools and feel they are of good quality, robust and fit for purpose on a busy construction site.

Elmeridge Cable Services (ECS) are installers of High Voltage Power Cables from 33,000 volts to 400,000 volts in the UK and worldwide. They install, joint and test the cables and accessories. Based in Essex ECS have grown from 2/3 employees in 2000 to become a provider of specialist High Voltage Cable Engineering solutions worldwide. They now have 22 highly experienced employees consisting of Project Managers/High Voltage Cable Engineers and Jointers/Hydraulic Engineers and Technicians enabling them to react quickly to customer requirements. They supplied and installed 132,000V cables for the Olympic Park.

Hilti OnlineESC is now set up to use Hilti Online and is now using all Hilti consumables to fit with their fleet of Hilti tools. Phil King from ECS is their main user and feedback is positive. Phil says “finding previous orders makes it really easy with the re-ordering of regular consumables”.

Wilkinson Group

Hilti innovation helps Wilkinsons improve productivity and save costs!

Working regularly in partnership with their clients’ architects, designers and project managers, their aim is to work seamlessly either as part of a larger team or independently. Richie Morris, Senior Contracts Manager at Wilkinsons Group, identified two main areas to investigate - Firestop and Diamond Drilling.Firestop is important as they need to ensure they are fitting the best products available, and that they have all the correct certification in place to ensure they meet the required standards.

They are currently sub-contracting Diamond Drilling and felt it would be beneficial to be able to do this themselves as they drill a certain number of holes each day on-site which incurs additional costs when sub-contracted out.

Firestop solutionHilti Account Manager, Ben Gardiner, received an enquiry from Ivor Roskell, Head Buyer at John Wilkinson about a number of projects requiring a large number of holes to be core drilled through concrete flooring

and which would also need suitable firestopping once the installation was complete. A meeting was arranged between Ivor Roskell and Wilkinsons Contracts Manager, Paul Tennant, Ben Gardiner and Steve Roberts, Hilti Firestop expert, in which Hilti’s firestop solution was presented. The meeting also gave Hilti the chance to show Wilkinsons the full range of firestopping products together with the performance, pricing, availability, technical support and service. Ben then introduced Paul to Steven Rands one of the Hilti Project Engineers. Ben and Paul continued to work with the Hilti Engineers to come up with a Firestop solution using Firestop foam CP660, a product unique to Hilti. On evaluation of the original drawings it was recommended that only half the amount originally specified was required. This resulted in a saving in

materials for Wilkinsons. Hilti Technical Engineers now ensure that the right product is specified for the right job and Steve Rands is now working closely with Wilkinsons on-site. They regularly share information such as technical drawings and certifications. Paul Tennant says that the on-site support has been a great asset in getting each project started plus being able to solve problems as they arise ensures the projects are completed on time to very tight deadlines. He has total peace of mind knowing that Hilti has all the relevant firestop certification required by the Building Control and Firestop Officer.

Diamond drilling solutionBen visited Wilkinsons offices and met with Tony Strickland, their Plant and Tools Procurement Manager, to discuss the concrete drilling work required on upcoming projects. Ben identified the DD 150 Diamond drill and rig as an ideal solution. The main reason for using the DD 150-U was the traffic light system which ensures the machine works safely. Ben explained how the traffic light system works. When the green light is showing, the machine is working at its best, preserving the core bit means that the operator can ensure optimal drilling at all times whilst working safely. The amber light is a warning to slow down and if the red light comes on the machine automatically cuts out. This not only guarantees safety but ensures maximum life of the core bits and ensures the company works productively and saves on costs.Ben visited them on-site and set up the DD 150-U Diamond drill and demonstrated it to Wilkinsons. They were really happy with it and have since purchased 3 machines. The service Ben offered to Wilkinsons confirmed

how serious Hilti were to save them time and money whilst increasing their productivity and safety. Richie Morris, Senior Contracts Manager says ‘’ by having Ben and his colleagues on our sites to show our lads how to work safely and productively gives us great peace of mind ‘’ Tony Strickland says “The feedback from site is that the traffic light system is great, making the machines easy to use, ensuring they don’t try to go to fast and burn out the core bits".

OnlineThey are now set up to order online and find this a really easy and convienent way to place orders 24/7.

Going forwardSince this project Richie Morris, Senior Contracts Manager at Wilkinsons, arranged a meeting with Ben to discuss on-site support. Ben took Greg Fallon, Hilti’s National I&G Manager, with him and Hilti have now supplied them with a detailed map of the UK showing where the individual Hilti Account Managers are based and who are able to supply same day on-site support. Hilti has now assigned one team to support Wilkinsons on all future projects and are in discussion about new contracts which could see the relationship going from strength to strength.

Based on the Fylde coast, the Wilkinson Group employs a motivated and highly skilled team of 80 and has an annual turnover of approximately £12 million. They are accredited to or are members of the following bodies: CHAS Health and Safety, Government Approved, MOD Approved, Safe Contractor Approved, National House Builder Council, Considerate Contractors (achieving performance beyond compliance) and Construction line.

"As Head Buyer at Wilkinsons I find the online ordering helpful as we can place orders outside office hours. The quick delivery turnaround nationwide is a huge asset as many of our contracts are on very tight timescales and cover all the UK. Hilti as a company, fit the needs and requirements of the Wilkinson Group as they strive to meet the demands of ever changing markets, without compromising quality and service"
