P a s t o r ’ s N e w s … Page 2

At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. At three o’clock Jesus cried out in

loud voice. “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’’ which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

When some of the people standing there heard him say that, they said, “Listen! He’s calling Elijah.” Someone

ran out and soaked a sponge in vinegar. Then he put it on a stick and offered Jesus a drink. The man said,

“Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down." Then Jesus cried out in a loud voice and died….

Joseph had purchased some linen cloth. He took the body down from the cross and wrapped it in the cloth.

Then he laid the body in a tomb. ...When the day of worship was over, Mary Magdala, Mary ( the mother of

James )and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Jesus. On Sunday they were going to the tomb very early

when the sun had just come up. They said to one another, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the en-

trance to the tomb?” As they went in to the tomb, they saw a young man. He was dressed in a white robe and

sat on the right side. They were panic-stricken. The young man said to them. “Don’t panic! You’re looking

for Jesus from Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been brought back to life. He’s not here. Look at the

place where they laid him. Go and tell his disciples and Peter that he’s going ahead of them to Galilee. There

they will see him, just as he told them.” (Mark 15:33-37, 46; 16:1-7) God’s Word Translation

AN OLD man asked a young boy, “What are you going to do with your life?”

The young boy replied, “ I’m going to college and get a business degree.”

The old man said, “Well, what then?”

“Oh! Then I’m going up to New York and I’m going to work on Wall Street, become a broker , and

then become a millionaire.”

“Oh! OK! And what then?”

The boy continued, “Then I’m going to buy myself a fine house. I may try to retire

early so that I can enjoy the good life.”

“What then?”

“Well then, after that, I’m just going to party, relax and enjoy my grandkids.”

“Alrighty, what then?”

“I guess after all of that, I’m gonna die.”

The old man smiled wryly and looked the young boy in the eyes. “What then?”

For all of us in life, no matter how we live our lives an no matter what we fill them with, we will all

die and we need to have a plan in place for that time too.

Does your plan include eternal life through the resurrected Jesus Christ?

To My Florin Family:

Thank you for your Prayers, compassion and support for my neph-

ew, Daniel. I've always known our God is forgiving and merciful, but

the results I've seen are nothing short of miraculous. Daniel's health is steadily improving, AND, he accepted Jesus as his Savior, he's reading

the Bible, praying and attending worship services! He's also eagerly an-ticipating Pastor Randy's visit. After much red tape and rules to follow,

very soon, they'll finally be able to meet. Let me close with a thank you from Daniel, himself: He said he's very grateful for your support, and he

can actually feel your prayers.

May God bless each and every one of you.

With Love,

Sandy Heisey

Spiritual Discernment - It sounds great!

But what is it?

How do we do it?

Where do we start?

Join Naomi Kraenbring for two sessions of DVD recordings from the School of

Leadership Training that she attended at Eastern Mennonite Seminary’s campus in

January 2014. Ruth Haley Barton, author of Pursuing God’s Will Together: A Discerment Practice for

Leadership Groups, was the keynote speaker and has some exciting and challenging words for us to

hear!

Sunday, April 6, after church until 3:30 p.m. Bring a bag lunch!

This video presentation is particularly geared towards those helping to make spiritual

discernment happen in leadership settings, but all who are interested in this topic are invited to attend!

Please compete the bottom of this form and return to Naomi, mailbox #157. Or feel free to contact Nao-

mi to RSVP or with questions 653-4778 or [email protected].

_____ Yes, I plan to attend the workshop on April 6!

Worship Ministry Action Team has been busy this month gathering information

to help us be ready to transition to a more contemporary worship service. Thank

you all for you support and for the ideas you have shared so far. At this point, we are

continuing to gather information and work out the process of how we will be moving

and changing to meet our goal of contemporary worship at Florin. At the recent

Missions Dinner we were reminded how much musical talent we have at Florin and we

want to make sure that we are able to use the gifts and talents that make us unique.

Please feel free to contact any member of WMAT if you have any more ideas or

questions about our process and progress. Thank you!

I remember as a little girl hearing people say that time goes really fast……..

and I thought I would never say that, well guess what? Back in December when OMAT team started planning the Missions Dinner, it seemed like a long way away and now we can say it is history. I am going to share a little of what I observed and took part in. First of all ,seeing how each one of the team members took a responsibility and ran with it, was really awesome! Julia was responsible for addressing the invitations to the businesses and church members, and we had 8 table sponsors. With these contributions ,the entire cost of the meal was covered. Jim Heisey was in charge of the silent auction and set up. What a neat display down the entire hallway from the fellowship hall to the gathering area! Marsha Heisey contacted and organized the servers. I might also add she helped Jim with the silent auction. Earl and Evie were in charge of the appetizers, and once again they out did themselves. Evie you will have to share your recipes some time?! Pastor Randy was Master of Ceremony and Rose made the special meals for those who were in need. And of course I can’t forget to mention the kitchen staff, once again Rob and Ellie, Bob and Barb Strickler were our chefs in charge. Linda Heisey came in on Friday evening and decorated the tables and hall. What a delightful time we had hearing the choir and several other members share their musical talent. Marcy did an awesome job organizing the program. When all was totaled, there was approximately $2,500.00 raised for those interested in missions!! As I think back on the evening and see how many different people were involved and how their gifts were used to serve, I can only say, WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE! There are lot of people at Florin that have many, many gifts and talents! I know we have a lot to share with those around us. Respectfully Submitted, Ruth Ann Barr OMAT chairperson

What’s Happening at Little People’s Nursery School:

April showers bring May flowers! At LPNS, April brings Wacky Day where children and staff wear mismatched or backwards

clothing to school for a day! April also brings the Art Show on the 15th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm showcasing the children's art projects from the

year! Come out and see the show! Bring your friends and neighbors along!

At the end of April, a Mount Joy Police Officer will be visiting the classes to

share with the children about their duties and special equipment. The chil-

dren always enjoy this day!

April also brings more opportunities for us to support LPNS. The Wolfgang

candy will be delivered the first week of April and distributed after that. On April 10th, LPNS will be hosting a fundraiser at Isaac's in Mount Joy. Flyers

will be in the bulletin and on the mailbox tables. There will also be another sub sale starting on April 14th with delivery on May 6th. Please see the sign

up sheets in the Sunday School rooms after the 14th. Let's show our sup-port and participate in these fundraisers!

We would also like to recognize that Maxine Feltch, director of LPNS has stepped down at the end of March to pursue other interests. She has served

the school for many years as director and teacher. We want to thank her for her dedication to the children and the staff during these years.

In closing, this is a note from the staff...

Little People's Nursery School would like to thank everyone for their gener-ous donations of snacks and school supplies. It was greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much!
