In an effort of the board of directors’ to keep
our unit owners up to date of the necessary steps to
take when your identity items (license, passbook,
ATM cards or other items that contain your ss/no.
and /or/ your accounts numbers) are lost or sto-
len. While the information herein is not by any
means complete, it will give you a place to begin
getting back in “the game”
Immediate steps. Place an initial “fraud alert”
There are 3 companies that should be notified.
1. Equifax (1-800-525-6285)
2. Experian (1-888-397-3742) and
3. TransUnion (1-800-680-7289)
Be sure that the company you call will call the other
two.
Report that you are an identity theft victim. Ask
the company to put a fraud alert on your credit
file. (placing a fraud report is free. The initial
fraud report stays on your credit report for 90
days) Be sure the credit reporting companies have
your current contact information.
Consider placing a “credit freeze” on your
file. This does not in any way effect you, but who-
ever has your documents cannot open accounts in
your name.
If you need more information, you may come to the
Condo office. There we have a book published by
The Federal Trade Commission. (ask for Tony) Or
go on line and find it on… “FTC.GOV/IDTHEFT”.
