Year 11 Studio Art Show

I would like to congratulate our

Year 11 Studio Arts students

whose work is on display in the

Deakin Art Gallery until 15th December from 8am - midnight daily with the official opening on Friday 10th November 6-7pm. Our school community appreciates Deakin’s willingness to provide an opportunity to showcase student Art in such a high quality presentation space. This wonderful Art show provides an opportunity to recognise student talent and endeavor. It enables students to further develop confidence in their skills and the desire to continue their artistic interests. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase student talent and I encourage everyone to take the time to visit.

Year 12 Graduation evening 2017 Year 12 students together with their families, friends and year 12 teachers attended their Graduation Evening last Friday at Caulfield Racecourse. This was a very well attended event and I would like to thank Mrs O'Louglin and the PTSFA for organising the event. I would like to pass on my congratulations to the class of 2017 and wish them every success.

Year 7-10 Exams The Year 7-10 exams have begun in earnest this week. Having the exams at this point in the term enabled teachers to deliver and assess a discrete unit before the end of year programs begin. This ensures we maintain an effective learning tone for the whole year. I would like to wish students all the very best.

Ian Watkins Principal

Chamber Strings Government House Performance

Once again, the Chamber Strings group has been invited to perform at the Multicultural Awards for Excellence at Government House.

The Victorian Multicultural Commissioner’s office specifically asked for the Highvale College Chamber Strings group to perform after hearing them play at Government House on numerous occasions over the last 12 months.

The students have performed at Government House on 5 previous occasions which is truly a testament to their high standard and quality of performance.

Continuation Forms

Due by 10th November

Parents of students in the instrumental music program will have a received a ‘Music Instrument Tuition and Hire 2018’ via email recently.

This form is used for planning tuition in 2018. Consequently, we are asking parents to indicate whether there will be any changes regarding their child’s participation in the instrumental music program in 2018.

The Continue Tuition and/or Hire Information forms are due by 10th November.

NATIONAL BANDANNA DAY PROCEEDS

Together we raised $776 for National Bandanna Day! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who bought and wore their bandannas. This money will help young people dealing with cancer, which is an incredibly worthwhile cause. Thanks for your support! Ms Madeleine Costello

State Athletic Finals

On Monday 23rd October, six Highvale students attended Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park to compete against the best athletes in the State. To make it to this level, is a fantastic achievement as many of our students only compete in these events once or twice throughout the school year.

It was an absolute pleasure to watch these students give 100% in their events and be there supporting one another.

A big congratulation to the following students who represented Highvale Secondary College at the State Athletic Finals and achieved these fantastic results:

Tahlia Allen, Year 7 Georgia Rose Campbell, Yr 8 Dale Steele, Year 10 – 5th place in 800m Final – 5th in High Jump Final – 9th in High Jump Final

Jakeb Pearson, Year 10 Ash Hall, Year 11 Grace Zhang, Year 11 – 1st place in 400m Final – 5th place in Javelin Final – 7th place in Javelin Final
