RBI CHAIR TO BE ESTABLISHED IN IICA
21 June 2019
IICA entered into an MoU on Friday with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to
establish a Professorial Chair (RBI Chair) at the institute. The proposed chair is
intended to advance thought leadership and research in the area of ‘Corporate
Affairs and Financial Stability’ and allied subjects with the objective of
supporting the Reserve Banks’ decision making process on policies.
IICA CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY
21 June 2019
The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs celebrated International Yoga Day on
Friday 21 June 2019 with the enthusiastic participation of officers, faculty and
staff. Participants were introduced to Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. The
event was held under the supervision of Mr. Sunil Sahu, CFO, IICA and Dr.
Lata Suresh, Head, KRC. The participants were motivated to opt yoga and
perform every day to stay fit and lead a healthy life.
IICA – IEPFA WORKSHOP ON ‘INDIA: ROADMAP TO FINANCIAL
CAPABILITY’ CONCLUDES IN DELHI

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the Investor
Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) organized a workshop with
the theme “India: Roadmap to Financial Capability” on 21 June 2019 at the
IEPFA premises in New Delhi.
Keeping in mind the pressing need to improve the financial capability of Indian
investors, IICA is working with the IEPFA towards developing a revised national
strategy to meet this challenge successfully. The workshop organized on Friday
is intended to kick start the process of formulation of a new strategy. The
programme commenced with welcome address by Mr. Santosh Parashar,
Head, Advocacy Fulcrum, IICA followed by the keynote address of Mr. Navneet
Chouhan, General Manager, IEPFA.
Presentations were made by Dr. Naveen J Sirohi, Head, School of Finance,
IICA, Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao, Director, National Institute of Banking Studies and
Corporate Management (NIBSCOM); Ms. Monika Halan, Consulting Editor,
Mint and Adjunct Professor, IICA; Dr. D.V. Ramana, Professor, Xavier Institute
of Management, Bhubaneswar and Dr. P.K. Mishra, Associate Professor,
Centre for Economic Studies, Central University of Punjab. The workshop was
attended by nearly 20 delegates who were invited from Ministry of Corporate
Affairs, IEPFA, Banking Institution, Central Universities, and representatives
from NSE, BSE and Registrars Association of India.

IICA CONCLUDES FOUR DAY TRAINING PROGRAMME ON
PROCUREMENT AND CONTRACT MANAGEMENT

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) concluded a four-day workshop
on “Procurement (Procedures, Tenders, Bids) and Contract Management” on
14 June 2019 in Bangalore. The programme was designed by IICA Centre for
MSME to provide intensive training to procurement professionals on key areas
which include: intricacies in public procurement, enhancing efficiency of public
and private sector through effective supply chain management, evolving trends
in public procurement, e-procurement, policy and regulatory issues and many
other related critical issues. The programme sessions were facilitated by Mr.
Rajesh Batra, Head, Centre for MSME – IICA, Mr. M.C. Panda, Former Addl.
Secretary – Ministry of Commerce; Mr. Bhaskar Narang, Former Principal
Executive Director, Railway Board, Indian Railways. The program brought
together 20 senior procurement, project and finance professionals involved in
public procurement from different government departments and PSUs to share
best practices and to discuss the critical issues of today & the future.
ICLS ACADEMY CONCLUDES WORKSHOP ON BALANCE SHEET
ANALYSIS FOR ICLS OFFICERS AND TRAINEES
15 - 17 June 2019
The Institute of Corporate Law Service Academy concluded a three-day
professional programme on “Intensive analysis of Financial statement by
centre for correct and Accurate Balance sheet analysis” (CABSA) For ICLS
officers & Officer Trainees (9th batch). The programme was facilitated
by Mr.G.C Pipara who is a practising Chartered Accountant with over 36 years
of experience in auditing and accounting and is the author of many manuals
used for training officers and trainees. Thirty participants attended the
programme which took place on 15-17 June 2019
ICLS ACADEMY IN ASSOCIATION WITH ICSI CONCLUDES IN-SERVICE
TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR ICLS OFFICERS
17 - 23 June 2019
Institute of Corporate Law Service Academy organized a seven day
professional course training Programme for in- service ICLS officers on 17-23
June 2019 in association with the Institute of Chartered Accountant of India
(ICSI). Twelve in-service ICLS officers participated in this training programme
which focused on topics exploring nuances of forensic Accounting and
Corporate law. In-service training programmes organized by the ICLS Academy
are designed with the objective of facilitating the continued professional
development and performance improvement of serving officers.
IICA PROGRAM ON ‘INTERNAL FINANCIAL CONTROLS’ CONCLUDES IN
KOLKATA

The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) in association with the
Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) concluded a one-day workshop on
“Internal Financial Controls under the Companies Act 2013” on 28 June 2019 in
Kolkata. The programme sessions were facilitated by Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head,
SoCGPP – IICA, Mr. Debshis Ghosh, President Institute of Internal Auditors,
Calcutta Chapter; Mr. NN Khanna, Presiding Officer Debts Recovery Tribunal,
Kolkata and Mr. Sunil Kalra (CA), Partner, GRIC &, Forensics, Mazars.
The programme concluded with closing remarks and certification ceremony
presided by Dr. Niraj Gupta, Head, SoCGPP and Mr. Saibal Sarkar, Director,
DPE. Witnessing participation from over 32 CPSEs/SLPEs in India, the
workshop was designed by IICA – SoCGPP with the objective of providing
participants with clear actionable insights to better understand internal control
concepts as per the requirements of the Companies Act 2013 and to equip
them with practical tools and methods required for a robust implementation
framework.
RESEARCH AND PRACTICE
IICA CONDUCTS NEED ASSESSMENT FOR RESTORATION OF JOHN
HALL IN GURUGRAM
The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs is conducting a need assessment study
for the restoration of cultural heritage site – John Hall in Gurugram, Haryana
also known as the Agricultural Hall. The study is being conducted for IGT
Solutions (IGT) which is a leading BPM, Technology and Digital Services and
Solutions Company committed to deliver innovation and business excellence
across the entire spectrum of Travel, Transportation and Hospitality domain.
A Project Management Unit (PMU) for CSR was set up as a joint venture of
Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), with Department of Industries &
Commerce (DoI), Government of Haryana. The PMU is supervising and
coordinating the study for the purpose of land survey, infrastructure site survey
and desk research and providing reference for further documentation of details
of the structure. The team of land surveyors and architects are working on the
site with respect to photo documentation of details of the building such as
mouldings of structure, balcony details, railing details, door and window panels
and frames. A team of conservation architects are working on secondary
research through archival and internet sources to gain an understanding of the
structure.

IICA KNOWLEDGE RESOURCE CENTRE LAUNCHES KINDLE LENDING
SERVICES
3 June 2019
The IICA Knowledge Resource Centre and Library launched its Kindle lending
services on Monday. Faculty, staff and student community at IICA can now
avail this service to support their coursework and professional development.
