The golf was played at Lydenburg golf course in aid of the new home opened 12km outside Lydenburg on the dirt road called Langdraai. The home is for individuals with spinal injuries. People with spinal injuries are unable to use hands or feet and are reliant on caregivers for help; and this is the first such home in Mpumalanga. These young people that thus end up in wheelchairs have a lot of life and a desire to work and hence the project on the farm enabling them to be independent. More donors arrived on the day and their good deeds will soon be announced! The Advanced Defensive Driving Course prize worth R1500.00 for the person who forwarded the most emails about the golf day was won by Anton Botes. The ‘Wheelbarrow-full-of-Booze’ raffle was won by Sonja Labuschagne, and the person with the longest drive out of a wheelchair was Wayne Lesch. Ama Wheelies desperately need a vehicle.. The lack of transport is hampering progress and thus why the desperate fund raising, so that we can purchase a vehicle, even second-hand will do. Awareness was of utmost importance and Ama Wheelies proudly say many people became aware of Ama Wheelies thru the golf day and march through town on Friday 13 May. Thank you all the helpers.
