Dear Candidate,
Thank you for your interest in the post of attendance officer. It is with huge pride that I lead the academy and I feel sure that you would be welcomed into the community of Highfield. Our focus on pupil progress fully supported by all professionals in the academy allow for individuals to develop and progress in their chosen field.
We are looking for an outstanding Attendance Officer to work in close collaboration with pupils, parents and other professionals to really support the progress of pupils in raising achievement for all and particularly intervening with those families where attendance or punctuality is a concern. This will build on the excellent work that has already been established in this area in the academy. Experience of working with young people is crucial along with clear organizational and ICT skills. The successful candidate should be able to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with challenging situations but yet able to use in a calm professional manner at all times.

Reporting to Assistant Principal – Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare
Job purpose To support the work of the academy in raising attendance and helping young people to progress in their learning.
To with young people, their families/carers and the academy to return young people to regular school attendance.
To work within the academy in supporting pupils who are in school to achieve their full potential
Liaising with Staff, pupils, families/carers, Governors and other professionals
Working Time 37 hours per week, term time only plus INSET sessions
Salary/Grade
S4 / SCP 18 – 21 starting at SCP 18 -£18,070

Reporting attendance statistics to the Leadership team Ensuring that accurate statistics are maintained and that regular data returns are
submitted to the Trust and the LA Monitoring the action taken by the academy to improve attendance and punctuality Monitoring the performance of the academy against the attendance targets Completing the systematic analysis of registration date e.g. trends and patterns of
absence Checking registers at regular intervals and ensuring that any errors or omissions are
corrected promptly Provide register training for teaching staff Liaising with the exams and data team to ensure that attendance is highlighted on
pupil progress reports Talking to staff and pupils about the importance of good pupil attendance e.g. in
assemblies To identify pupils who fall below their target attendance or punctuality levels To work closely with the Heads of Year in identifying key families to work with Identifying young people and families with the highest levels of difficulties and
working with other staff in the completion of the common assessment framework processes
To prepare evidence for any pupil, parent/carer referred for court action

To monitor the attendance of the pupil following the court hearing and to take any necessary action
To liaise with the court officer and to prepare and distribute penalty notices Process and manage holiday requests Undertake accompanied home visits and attend external meetings in relation to
attendance issues Maintain up to date information of legislation, regulations and guidance to support
attendance, punctuality and persistent absences To attend parent’s evenings, open evenings and other academy events as
appropriate
Safeguarding To follow the academy’s policy and procedure regarding all aspects of safeguarding To work closely with all members of the academy’s stakeholders to ensure a positive
ethos and climate for learning To ensure positive relationships are built between all stakeholders To ensure that pupils are safe, well and happy
