There are so many reasons to choose C.O.S.A.:

All associates are board certified. All consultants and board specialists (Diplomate of the American Boardof Orthodontics) are professors at universities. The technology we use makes us the most up-to-date orthodontists in our field. Our providers, assistants, management, and teams receive continuous education and retraining.Patients are managed and observed throughout treatment. Our prices are very comparable to other, less knowledgeable clinics.

We accept self-pay financing and medical aid (when eligible).

Our Use of the Treatment Monitoring System (TMS)

Dolphin Management and Imaging has been utilized in the past eight years with one of the C.O.S.A. partners. C.O.S.A. partners can also offer free consultation and training to the management staff running the clinic for the day-to-day operation to streamline monitoring, not only treatment plans but also scheduling, billing, finance.

Any new cases will be directly monitored, treatment planned, and supervised by C.O.S.A. C.O.S.A and its associates will start these cases together (starting from initial exam, diagnostic and treatment planning, VTO (Visual Treatment Objective) - computer simulation, consultation, and initial placement of appliances until the first check up visit). Any subsequent visits will be seen by the associate with monthly monitoring on progress, either remotely or in person by C.O.S.A.

Yearly progress will be discussed to decide treatment progress, or if there is any minor modification needed in treatment.

During finishing and detailing, C.O.S.A. will help directly to give advice, as well as to ensure 99-100% excellent board-quality finish in almost every case. C.O.S.A. will advise the management clinic when the optimal capacity of each clinic per doctor/provider has been reached (usually about 60 patients per day). This will ensure quality and continuation of treatment.

With TMS, C.O.S.A. will break the myth that corporate group dental practices deliver substandard orthodontic care. On the contrary, with hosting everything under one roof, C.O.S.A. will make sure that difficult cases can be reviewed in an interdisciplinary manner.

It was November 2014 when Dr. Joseph Kunnel and Dr. Budi Kusnoto had their first meeting discussing a unique idea which later developed into the Consortium of Orthodontic Specialty by Academia (COSA).

Both have been involved with orthodontic education for more than 15 years, while maintaining busy private practices. In the past 5 years, Drs. Kusnoto and Kunnel have observed the trend of orthodontic specialty residency programs, as well as the marketplace of the newly-graduated orthodontists. While passionate and thriving for delivering excellent orthodontic treatment, Drs. Kusnoto and Kunnel hold a similar basic belief: “In this world, you can only get two out of the three things that people have always wanted: FAST – GOOD – CHEAP”.

Growing orthodontic practices require the clear understanding that quality and service must come first. In this day, economic patients demand that service be delivered quick, yet inexpensive. Many patients don’t even understand the importance of a good, healthy dental arrangement. It is our duty as well-trained dental professionals, particularly in this case, for the orthodontist to be able to educate the public. Built with the mind-set of a dental educator and academia, Dr. Kusnoto and Dr. Kunnel know the limit and the meaning of the FAST – GOOD – CHEAP triangle. One can’t expect to have an excellent treatment done in a timely manner, but in a very inexpensive way. On the other hand, one can’t expect that something that was done fast in a very inexpensive way can actually be of the highest quality.

Orthodontics is the oldest specialty in dentistry, which treats dental malocclusions and skeletal deformities. It’s one of the few specialties in which the treatment for patients can last anywhere from one year to several years, depending on the degree of difficulty of the case. this means that it is extremely important that there is a continuity of care for the patient. Due to changing dynamics in the health care field, and a population migration, it is now challenging to have a continuity of care. With those premises, and with what we have observed in the past on the trend of the expansion of dental practices, we realize that if you work as a team, and everybody specializes in what they are good at, a high- quality orthodontic treatment can be delivered.

All of our specialists are board-certified. They are all involved in active research, and versatile with the latest advances in the orthodontic field. They each have their own private practice, with several of them instrumental in the founding and operations of two major dental schools.

INTRODUCTION WHY CHOOSE C.O.S.A.?

Aligner Therapy

A more esthetic alternative to traditional metal or clear braces, designed to straighten teeth. Similar to braces, clear aligners move teeth into the proper position using gentle forces, but without the metal wires and brackets.

We use only the best quality, name-brand appliances, such as 3M, and all appliances are made in the U.S.A.

Dolphin Imaging, Dolphin Cloud and Dolphin 3D software

Dolphin Imaging Software is an FDA-cleared Class II medical device.Dolphin Imaging allows us to effortlessly manage patient picture and x-ray images. It is the foundation of the Dolphin product suite. It is carefully designed for quick learning, and let’s us effectively capture, organize and present image records. It also includes a set of powerful and user-friendly tools for conveying treatment plans and for easily communicating ideas.

Dolphin Cloud is a comprehensive service that enhances your total Dolphin experience. Services include Cloud Sessions, a hosted solution that give us access to the entire Dolphin Imaging and Management product line without the need of a local server.

Dolphin 3D software is a powerful tool that make processing 3D data extremely simple, enabling dental specialists from a wide variety of disciplines to diagnose, plan treatment, document and present cases. Dolphin 3D allows visualization and analysis of craniofacial anatomy from data produced by cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), MRI, medical CT, and 3D facial camera systems. This software is widely used by research/teaching institutes and private practices world-wide.

Dolphin Practice Management Cloud

This software manages all the data from all of the Dolphin software we use to make it easier to find all patient pictures and data in one place.

Remote Monitoring SystemThis allows your smartphone to capture tooth movements and communicate those movements to your orthodontist, making it possible to treat your case more efficiently and decreasing your overall treatment time.

Accelerated Tooth MovementAccelerated orthodontic movement is a new method used by orthodontists to speed up your treatment, reducing overall treatment time and risks of side effects. Utilization of appliances like Acceledent or Propel can speed up the response of the tissues to orthodontic forces.

Computer-Driven Custom-Made Appliances (braces)

SureSmile

Your orthodontist can create a three-dimensional computer simulation of your teeth, which will be used to create an effective plan to move your teeth into the preferred final position in a virtual setting with pinpoint accuracy.

iCAT (CBCT) and Digital Intraoral Scanning

This advanced imaging system will help capture more clear and accurate information during the diagnostic stages, leading to better-fitting appliances and higher quality results at the end of your treatment.

Lingual Braces

These braces are placed behind your teeth, completely hidden from view. Unlike traditional braces, systems like Incognito and Harmony will straighten your teeth while allowing you to smile with confidence simultaneously.

C.O.S.A. USES THE MOST UP-TO-DATE

TECHNOLOGY

As with anything, technology for orthodontics is constantly changing. We strive to keep up with all the current innovations to better serve our patients. Below are just a few of the technologies currently used by C.O.S.A. associates:

THE COSA PROCESS

Our COSA apps

COSA equips its members with highly sophisticated and secure mobile apps and web portal to integrate its operation. The synergistic combination between the mobile apps and its web portal will allow all COSA providers and associates to communicate and coordinate their services and availability throughout COSA affiliated clinics, which will enable streamlined, highest-standard care of oral health to their patients.

Indirect Bonding System

The indirect bonding method of placing braces ensures precise bracket positioning, and shortens the length of your appointment, among other advantages. This can be performed by hand in the office, or sent to the lab to be performed using advanced digital technological systems, such as SureSmile or Insignia.
