Current Meter Reading Challenges Accuracy: Since the readings are recorded on paper and reentered

multiple times before billing, this allows data manipulation and transcription errors.

Efficiency: manual preparation of forwarding list (CP-21) including calculation of advanced units followed by data entry at Revenue office is time consuming.

Controls: Audit/follow-up of every meter is difficult in the field

Customer Complaints: High volume of customer complaints and it is time consuming to investigate them in the field

Benefits of HHU

• Meter snap and time stamp ensures meter is visited and read. Reduces office reads and estimated bills.

• Reading errors are reduced through HHU Hi-Low validation check. This allows reading

errors can be removed before bill processing.

• Work duplication is reduced. Data entry and re-entry is eliminated.

• Paper movement and logistics is reduced.

• Reduces duration of billing cycle resulting in cash flow improvements.

• Reduces customer complaints. Meter snap eliminates the need to re-visit meter.

Success stories

PDP has successfully Implemented HHU system in:

• Kamalabad Subdivision, IESCO

• Gulgasht, Hasanabad, Bosan Road and Shamsabad subdivision, MEPCO.

Kohat Road Subdivision, PESCO

Implementation Status:

HHU system running in parallel since February. Training of meter readers

and testing will be completed by April 2014 and billing on HHU will start

from May 2014.

Future plans:

By July 2015 , additional 10 subdivisions will be converted to HHU system.
