FAMILIES OF THE WORLD We will be viewing some video clips of different types of

families in different countries (they are also set up into rural/urban)

You are to compare: Rural vs. Urban families of the same country Relate the country in question to Canada, how does it

compare? Do you think that the Canadian clip (rural/urban) is an accurate representation of Canadian families? Why?

And…. Similarities & differences between countries

What does the family unit look like (mother/father? Siblings? Grandparents? All in the same dwelling?) Use your knowledge of what constitutes a family

What sorts of customs/traditions does the family have that differs from your family?

Do the parents work at home or somewhere else? Do the children attend school? How do these societal structures differ from your city/country

Are there any different rules to follow?

ORIGINS OF THE FAMILY

We’re going to create a timeline of the origins of family!

You will be in groups, and each group will have a particular time in Family History

There are 10 family distinctions (roughly 2 people in each group)

On a blank sheet you will put the name of your period in the family timeline in a large format title, with facts and other information surrounding it (you made add pictures if you wish to add more detail)
