These achievements were discussed and marked in the rec- ords of Holy Family Hospital during the Board Meeting on November 18 & 19, 2014 in addition to setting 2015 plans for achieving more and more success for the benefit of the Palestinian people. This year, the hospital marked an increase of 25% in the number of patients receiv- ing medical care at its premises, extended the mobile clinic services to include be- sides the OB/GYN care the Pediatric care for newborns till the age of 1.5 years, signed new cooperative agreement with new donors for improving medical care provided to its patients, the success of our Resident Doctors who were trained at our hospital for almost five years and received their Palestinian Board Certificate. On this occasion a Holy Mass and a reception were held on November 18, 2014. The mass was celebrated by His Beatitude Fouad Twal and Msgr Joseph Lazzarro- to. Delegates from international consulates, representative offices, local partners such as French Consulate, Belgium Consulate, Czech Representative Office, Span- ish Consulate, AFD, St. John Eye Hospital and others joined us in our celebration. On this occasion, we would like to thank H.E Baron Albrecht Von Boeselager for his dedication and hard work over the years as the president of the board also thank H.E Dominique De La Rochefaucauld for accepting the responsibilities of the new president and for his dedicated service for the last years as president delegate for the hospital which were fruitful years in developing the hospital and H.E Olivier de Preville as the new president delegate, hoping to continue the same proficiency and dedication to develop the hospital in the following years.

One additional year marking more and more achievements in the records of Holy

Family Hospital passed. These achievements were discussed and marked in the rec-

ords of Holy Family Hospital during the Board Meeting on November 18 & 19,

2014 in addition to setting 2015 plans for achieving more and more success for the

benefit of the Palestinian people.

This year, the hospital marked an increase of 25% in the number of patients receiv-

ing medical care at its premises, extended the mobile clinic services to include be-

sides the OB/GYN care the Pediatric care for newborns till the age of 1.5 years,

signed new cooperative agreement with new donors for improving medical care

provided to its patients, the success of our Resident Doctors who were trained at

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic visit to Holy Family Hospital on November 5, 2014

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Mr.

Lubomír Zaorálek visited Holy Family Hospital to mark

the implementation of a Cooperation Agreement between

the Czech Republic and the Sovereign Order of Malta cov-

ering their collaborative work in Palestine.

Development Specialist. The goal of their visit was to in-

troduce Ms Markham and Ms Salyer about the work of

Holy Family Hospital and to show the commitment of Ho-

ly Family Hospital staff in maintaining a high quality if

care to the Palestinian Women and infants.

The first phase of implementation of the Agreement covers

two projects - the creation of a Cardiology Unit at Holy

Family Hospital, and the provision of medical equipment

to be based at the Marda Village Clinic of the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Salfit Governorate. The

Cardiology Unit was also assisted by a grant from the Global Fund for Forgotten People.

Mr. Radek Rubeš, Head of Mission to the Representative office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah also

joined the visit in addition to delegations from the Palestinian side and from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

Mr. Ala’ Zaoul and Ms. Rima Jayoussi, the Bethlehem Governorate, Mr. Loay Zaoul,and Mr. Mahmoud

Zawahra, and from Bethlehem Municipality; the Mayor Mrs. Vera Baboun

In welcoming the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Ambassador Simpson said "the Czech

Republic and the Sovereign Order of Malta have a strong history, and the implementation of this Coopera-

tion Agreement to work in collaboration on projects of mutual interest in Palestine reflects the hard work of

our colleagues in Prague, in Rome and in Ramallah for the benefit of the mothers and babies of Palestine".

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and the accompanying dignitaries were given a tour of Holy Family Hospital

by its CEO, Mr Dominique Jacqmin, and senior medical staff of the Hospital. They had the opportunity to

visit the only neonatal intensive care unit in the West Bank, and to see the site in which the Cardiology Unit

will be based once the equipment is delivered and installed.

The Representative of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the State of Palestine H.E. Mr. Justin Simpson and

the CEO of Holy Family Hospital, Mr. Dominique Jacqmin, received on Thursday November 20, 2014 a

delegation from Salfit Governorate at Holy Family Hospital in Bethlehem.

The delegation included the Deputy Governor Mr. Abed al-Hameed al- Deek, the Director General of Sal-

fit Government Hospital, Dr. Mohammad al- Aref, the Director General of the Ministry of Health in Salfit

Governorate, Dr. Yasir Boziah, the Head of Marda Village Council, Mr. Osama Khouffash, and the Head

of Marda Charitable Association for Development, Mr. Nasfat Khouffash.

H.E. Mr. Simpson welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the commitment of the Order of Malta to con-

tinue its effort to help the needy people in the region in both fields of health and economic development

through its projects. He highlighted the successful cooperation between the Order and the local leadership.

The visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Order of Malta and Salfit region as the Order has

been working in the neediest areas of the Governorate to help families in generating income through the

Dignity Loans Program and the provision of equipment to Marda Clinic.

Mr. Jacqmin offered the delegation the ability of the Holy Family Hospital to provide training for the med-

ical personal in the fields of its expertise e.g the Maternity, premature babies etc.

Mr. Al-Deek the Deputy Governor thanked the Order for the work it’s doing in the Governorate specially

the DLP and the provision of medical equipment to Marda Clinic. He confirmed the high standards of

medical Care the Holy Family Hospital provides to its patients and wished to have cooperation between the

Government Hospital in Salfit and the Holy Family Hospital.

Aside meeting took place between the physicians of Salfit and the Medical Director to find ways of coop-

eration between the hospitals in the field of women and child health services.

Outreach Mobile Clinic

As part of the work of the Franciscan Media Center in highlight-

ing and communicating the work being done at the Holy Land;

they visited Holy Family Hospital and mainly the outreach mo-

bile clinic that reaches the underprivileged at their door step in

order to prepare reportage about the work being provided to these

people. The visit was made on November 20, 2014. The FMC

team was accompanied by Mr. Olivier de Preville, President Del-

egate of Holy Family Hospital, Mr. Cristiano Caponnetto, Project

Manager, Order of Malta/France, and Dr. Mary-Jo Johnson a vis-

iting professor from Wellspan Health/Director of Maternal Fetal

Medicine/USA, who were visiting the Holy Family Hospital for the first time on November and who were ea-

ger to see the work of Holy Family Hospital and witness our work with the mobile clinic. We would like to

A Journalist and a photographer visit to Holy Family Hospital on November 26, 2014

The Journalist, Ms Dorothee Grafin Von Walderdroff, and the Photographer, Mr

Dominik Asbach, who were visiting the Holy land for a photo reportage on a spe-

cific project were generous enough to stop at Holy Family Hospital to witness our

work first-hand and prepare an article to be published on December at German

magazine “Eltern” specialized on parenting and families owned by a very well-

known German publishing company Gruner&Jahr. We would like to take this op-

portunity to thank Ms Walderdroff and Mr Asbach for their generosity.

Groups visiting Holy Family Hospital during their pilgrimage program to the Holy Land

A Malteser Group lead by Fra´ Georg Lengerke visited the hospital on No-

vember 11, 2014 in addition to an American Group lead by Msgr. Edward

Dillon on November 26, 2014. During their visit to the hospital, they were

briefed about the hospital developments, achievements over the year, and

our services and programs. In addition, a tour in the hospital different de-

partments took place. We would like to thank all of you for sparing some

time during your pilgrimage program to visit our Hospital and witnessing

our work first-hand.

Trip to Wadi Qelt

Among the extra hospital activities, a hiking trip to Wadi Qelt was organized. On our way, We paid a discov-

ery visit to the Siniora Food Factory where each of us appreciated the local food industry. During the few

hours walk to the Wadi “valley”, we discovered the Judean desert and spring with the different ruins on the

way. Our trip ended at Saint George Monastery that was closed on our arrival. In a joyful atmosphere, we were

invited by our hospital to a restaurant in Jericho to rehydrate and have a good lunch. It was a real joyful day!

lecture about "MECHANICAL VENTILATION in NEWBORN"

Holy Family Hospital—Bethlehem

On the 20th of November, a lecture about "MECHANICAL

VENTILATION in NEWBORN" was presented in our Hospi-

tal by Prof. Michael Espiritu. Prof. Michael Espiritu is an As-

sistant Professor- Department of Pediatrics (Neonatology)-

from New York University. Our audience (54 people) came

from different hospitals of Bethlehem district mainly and from

our Neighboring city - Hebron. The lecture was effective and

expressive and it attracted and held the audience’s attention.
