Please help us keep accounting costs low by sending dues payments to the address on the coupon. You must allow 6 days for receipt by mail! Don’t forget that you will not be able to access any events or amenities, including the pool or fitness center, until your dues have been received; don’t miss out on any of the great things we have coming up, get those dues payments in!!! Please remember, Hethwood annual dues payment is a deeded obligation that covers many things. The Hethwood Foundation consists of the following neighborhoods: Chowning Place, Haymarket Square, Pilgrim’s Point, Foxridge Apartment Homes, Stroubles Mill and Mission Hills. As a member of Hethwood, our residents here did not just purchase real estate, but instead have bought into the community as a whole. Thank you in advance for ensuring that the funds that support the community are paid on time. The covers are off of the pools already, and we are hard at work getting those soon to be sparkling pools ready for our residents use! We will open the facilities as staffing and weather permits-please see the tentative schedule, as well as other important pool info inside. We will be attempting to open the Briarwood pool earlier this season. Pool pins will be available opening weekend, as well as various days throughout the following week. As always, we strive to keep our amenities available to residents while balancing the need to manage our facilities in a fiscally responsible manner. Please remember that in the event of bad weather or a very low swimmer count, we will re-evaluate the schedule at one or both facilities for that day. In the event of in- clement weather, feel free to contact the office or the pool phones (numbers listed inside) to check on the pool schedule prior to heading out. Except for in cases of persistent inclement weather, we usually try to keep one of the facilities available. If your usual pool is unavailable, please try the other! Are you looking to get fit this summer? Lucky for you, as a Hethwood resident, you are surrounded by plenty of quality amenities and activities meant to keep you moving! You can join Hethwood for swim lessons. We will also be introducing a brand new fitness program for our resi- dents beginning in June called “Swim Gym”. This program will introduce you to a fun workout routine that will strengthen your core and overall help your quality of life. The end of each class will wrap up in the pool to allow you stretch out those tight muscles and sooth those aching joints. The class will be taught by a certified personal trainer. We will be holding both morning and evening classes in an effort to accommodate everyone’s busy schedules. Keep your eyes on the Hoorah next month for additional details! Just a reminder that while this beautiful weather will bring on the beloved May flowers, it is always possible they could be accompanied by other not so desirable vegetation! Please make sure that you continue to maintain your yard and landscaping as the summer goes. It is particu- larly important if you have foliage that is located on the borders of your lot-pay close attention that you do not encroach on any common area or your neighbor’s property. This is particularly true near the trail because overgrown vegetation is an irritating intrusion on the rest of the com- munity’s use. The Hethwood staff will be paying particular attention to grass growth as well as encroachment issues along common areas during summer inspections. Thanks for your helping in keeping curb appeal, and ultimately overall property values, up in the beautiful community of Hethwood! Important Information

Do you have a house for sale? There may be another Hethwood resident interested in your home!

Please contact our office as we will be adding a tab on our website titled “Homes for Sale”. Send us a photo of your home, the address, (a total of 3 sentences) and a link to your realtor. All submissions must be electronic. Please include your name and

phone number for our records. We will not give it out unless you direct us to do that, or if your home is for sale by owner. We’ll help you get the word out!

Important Disclosure Package Information Please note, if you are selling your house/condo/townhouse you (the seller) are required to furnish the buyer with a

disclosure package. The disclosure package includes important information regarding the Hethwood by-laws, exterior home and yard inspection, architectural standards, dues requirements, and other important information. Realtors know this and often request one on your behalf.

Some realtors may not. It is the seller’s responsibility. If you are selling your home, please remember to request a disclosure package in writing from the Hethwood Foundation. You may go to www.hethwoodfoundation.com and use the interactive form or print off a form. Please note that an exterior home and yard inspection will be completed as required. Any violations noted must be reported in the disclosure

information, and a letter will be sent to you as well. Any violations will need to be remedied in an appropriate time frame. Haymarket Square owners must obtain a disclosure package from both the Hethwood Foundation (552-5252) $50 and

Raines Property Management 951-0000 (cost $50). Likewise, Chowning Place owners must obtain a disclosure package from both the Hethwood Foundation (552-5252) $50 and Townside Inc. (552-4000) electronic $225 and paper $250. A purchaser may cancel the contract if

timely delivery of the association disclosure package is not completed.

Clubhouse Rentals We have two great clubhouses available for Hethwood homeowners and residents of Foxridge to rent. The cost for rental is $50 and the deposit is

$300. Consider the Briarwood Clubhouse for your special event. It is easy to clean, the furniture can be moved around for dancing, and it is equipped with a range, refrigerator, and microwave for your convenience. The Huntsman Clubhouse is reserved for non-alcoholic events such as meetings,

classes, showers etc. It has a full kitchen and is available for daytime use during office hours. The clubhouses are great for hosting larger groups that may not fit in your home comfortably. This is a privilege for our residents and it is hoped that any rentals will be treated that way. Residents are

responsible for returning the clubhouses to their original condition with furniture in place, cleaned completed (residents are to provide own cleaning supplies) and trash removed to a dumpster. The clubhouse(s) should be left properly secured, with key turned in immediately after the contracted time

and clubhouse ready for the next inspection and rental.

Satellite Dishes The FCC allows for the residents of planned communities to install direct broadcast satellite dishes. Before installing any satellite dish,

we request that you complete a Notice of Intent to Install an Antenna. The form as well as information regarding installation size and location can be printed from the Hethwood web site or picked up at the Hethwood office. Once this is filed with the

Hethwood Foundation you are free to carry out installation, unless for some reason the size or location does not conform to applicable standards.

Before You Make Changes To Your Home or Add Structures…. If you are planning to make any changes please note that according to the bylaws; an Architectural Control Committee shall

approve or disapprove any additions or alterations to the building exteriors, including fences, painting-color changes, walls, walks and any type of outbuilding/structure. An Application for Architectural Change/Addition must be submitted along with detailed information, samples and

measurements as requested on the form, to the Architectural Control Committee, as well as to the Hethwood Foundation for approval. Generally the process moves quickly, but one should allow for a 30-day approval process. Please contact the Hethwood office for this form or print one from the

Hethwood web site www.hethwoodfoundation.com.

Special Pick Ups of Debris Citizens who need collection of debris outside of Spring/Fall Clean Up should call the Town of Blacksburg Finance Dept. @ 961-1851 to

request a special pickup. There is a prepaid fee of $60 per load. Another option for debris, is to utilize the Montgomery County Consolidated Waste Sites. www.montgomerycountyva.gov, or call 382-5793.

The Stroubles Mill Garden committee selects the Morgan home at 2902 Ashlawn Dr. as our April Garden of the Month.

We began our nominating this year the week of our last Snowstorm. The Morgan’s yard stood out despite the snow with their neatly edged borders, foundation

shrubbery in complimentary varieties, and sunny, mixed white and yellow daffodils. Now that spring is here the SMNA Garden Committee invites you to take a stroll and

enjoy the many beautiful yards our neighborhood offers.

Stroubles Mill News Now that our long winter has waved goodbye with a snow storm in April, we look forward to getting out and about to enjoy all that our neighborhood offers: walking trails, lovely yards to view, open spaces, and playgrounds. Once warmer weather arrives feel free to enjoy all that Hethwood has of offer in our pools, sports courts,

planned activities and neighborly encounters.
