It is an overwhelming responsibility to take on and we need you to know that we are oh so thankful for all your hard work. Without our “busy bees” we wouldn’t exist as a group. We are forever grateful! August will bring our annual picnic meeting. Be sure to check with Barb Popov to see what you can bring and ask Barb what kind of help she might need. Things are in the works for the learn to paint and 2019 paint seminars. Please know that further information will be coming our way as this year winds down. Hoping to see you all at the picnic and to sharing food and conversation with all my painting friends! Sandy

President’s Message

A lovely summer greeting to everyone. Fall is just around the cor-ner and we will be in the home stretch to get things ready for our fundraiser on October 13th. Please be sure to get your List of Guests to Pam and pay for your table in advance at the August meeting. Also all donated baskets for the raffle must have a list of items inside for Barb to display. All Silent Auction Pieces need to be turned into Charlene soon and let her know the name of the piece and it’s size. All boutique items need to be priced for sale.

I’m sure there is a million other things that need to be “buttoned-up” before the big day arrives. Be sure to contact Barb to see what else she may need.

I just wanted to give a special thank you to all of you and especially those in charge of the biggest items for our fundraiser.

The Memory Box Program is a group of deco-rative artists who donate their time and money to paint boxes for grieving families. General Meeting June 20, 2018

The meeting was called to order by President, Sandy Bagger at 7:00 PM The minutes from the April General Meeting were approved with no additions or correc-tions.

Reports

The Treasurer’s report was approved as published in the newsletter.

Old Business

Cheryl Byrd volunteered to be the 2018 Hostess. Barb Popov placed a sign-up sheet for members to list the food they would like to bring to the summer picnic, August 15th. Sandy Bagger reported that there is no theme for this year’s Toll Month. Bring painted entries to the August meeting or to the library in October. The date for set up will be ad-vised later. Memory Boxes are being accepted by Henry Ford Hospital. Sandy will have a sheet for members to log the boxes they took and the ones they brought back.

New Business

Jean Michael reported that the website is operational and has a new format with Word-press. Switching to Wordpress, we saved $96 annually with the current program. This program is easier to work with and provides stats on number of views. Some board members will be taught to add documents, blogs and pictures to the website. Jean Michael printed a business card sample that was handed out to members. We can get 500 cards printed from Avery for $35, which is less cost than purchasing card stock and ink. Tess Richardson motioned to purchase the cards from Avery and second by Janet Keathley. Motion passed. A poll was taken to see if there was enough interest in the Birch Trees and Flowers in alcohol ink. There were a good number of those interested. A date will be set for after the Colors of Fall. (Minutes continued on page 5)

(Minutes continued) 2019 Seminars:

Sandy Bagger reported that Sam Farrah is willing to teach a class in 2019. She will advise Sandy by the end of June the project and possible date. Charlene Wenzel reported that the 2019 Incentive Seminar will be taught by Connie Blasif in April or May. The project will be a wine glass character. Michelle Justice attend the meeting as a guest and a friend of Barb and Pam. Colors of Fall Luncheon

Barb Reinholz reported that everyone needs to review the sign up sheets to ensure that every-one has signed up for what They intended. Members need to check the Table and Baskets, Volunteer Positions sheets. Members need to work on boutique items and ensure the backs are painted and varnished. The boutique shelves will be moved to Pam’s until the event. After the luncheon, Tess will store the shelves. The group needs to decide if HDA will have another luncheon in 2020. All hostess need to get the guest names together and turned in at the August meeting. Tickets are $25 and will be handed out at the August meeting. Names will be entered on a list, in alpha-bet order – last name, placed inside envelope and a $250 check to HDA. All baskets will need to have a list provided that includes all items and a minimum of one painted piece is required in the basket. The raffle tickets for baskets will be 11 tickets for $10. Charlene Wenzel reported that Brush Bucks for the Boutique items will be: 1 brush buck for each $10 value of items. Price your items and put your name on the price tag. Silent Auction: 1 brush buck for every $10 value. Auction pieces should be of high quality and value should start at $20. Provide Charlene with a list of your item(s), including if it will fit on the table or stands on the floor. Martenson Funeral Home will print our tickets and advertise on the back. Pam Hammermeister designed a new art work for the tickets. A new membership list was handed out. Changes: Marilyn Buckley phone: 734-837-3955 and Janet Keathley phone: 313-540-2679.

Announcements There will not be a Board meeting in July. The General Meeting will be held at Westfield on August 15 at 6:30 pm. As there was no further information to be discussed, a motion was made by Nancy Forbes to adjourn the meeting and seconded by Jean Michael. Motion Passed. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Jean Michael, Secretary
