IDEAS FOR LATER

Who do you meet when you walk down

you might see.

Do you ever get deliveries to your home?

MAKE AND DO

How to Make a Slides and Ladders Game

You will need:

Craft sticks

Coloured straws

Scissors

Tape

Cardboard tubes

3 cardboard boxes of various sizes

Small coloured cards

Markers

2 people figures

Instructions

Using the scissors, cut the coloured straws into 4 - 5cm lengths. Place down two craft sticks

parallel to each other, about 3cm apart and tape the straws onto the craft sticks so that

they make rungs of a ladder. Repeat this two more times so that you have three ladders.

Cut the cardboard tubes in half, length ways, to make three slides.

Stack your cardboard boxes with the largest box on the bottom and the smallest on top.

Using the tape, stick the ladders and slides onto the boxes, one between each level.

On the coloured cards, draw five slides and five ladders.

To play the game, shuffle your slide and ladder cards and place them face down. With a

friend, take turns turning a card over. If you get a ladder, move your figure up one level. If

you get a slide, you move down one level. Try to get to the top of the box tower. See

who will get there first!

IDEAS FOR LATER

Do you have a bicycle? You could write a

letter to a friend who lives in your

neighbourhood and deliver it on your bike

with your family. If you don’t have a bike,

maybe you could ride a scooter, or walk or

skip!

Think about some different places you’ve

been to. Make up a dance move for each

place.

How to Make a Here to There Board Game

You will need:

Large piece of cardboard

Cardboard tubes

Small cardboard boxes

Plastic container

Tape

Ping pong ball

Straw

Instructions

Place the large piece of cardboard on a table. Tape the cardboard tubes and small

boxes onto the cardboard to create an obstacle course that the ping pong ball will fit

through. Tape the plastic container onto the edge where you want your obstacle course

to finish.

To play the game, use the straw and some big breaths to blow the ping pong ball through

the obstacle course. See how quickly you can do it.

You could try tilting your board to see if the ping pong ball goes through the course. You

can have fun by changing your obstacle course to try different configurations!

MAKE AND DO

How to Make a Submarine Adventure

You will need:

Wooden stick

2 small pieces of paper

Tape

Marker

Clear plastic bottle

2 pegs

2 rubber bands

Cardboard cylinder

String

Instructions

Draw two friends on the small pieces of paper and tape them to the wooden stick so that they

are standing on it.

Use the plastic bottle to make a submarine. Put one elastic band around the top, and one

around the bottom of the bottle. Turn the bottle on its side. Put the two pegs under the band

at the back to be the propellers. Put the cardboard cylinder under the two bands – this will be

the air tank. With the string, tie one end around the elastic band at the back, and the other

end around the top of the bottle – this will help you move your submarine.

Put your two friends into the submarine – they might need to bend over to get inside! Screw

the lid of the bottle on to keep the water out. Using the string, take your submarine on an

underwater adventure! What sea creatures can you see?
