Here is an e-mail message from Kate Anderson, an American friend of Miss Cheng
Ming,
How are you? I’m glad to tell you that I will spend three days in Hong Kong from 7th April. After that, I will have a business meeting in China.
Ming, I’d like you to do me a favour. Since I know almost nothing about Hong Kong, can you give me some suggestions about where to see and what to do in Hong Kong during my short stay? Is there any delicious food that I can try? And where can I stay?
I hope that I haven’t given you too much trouble about my visit. Thank you for your help. Hope to hear from you soon.
Kate

Getting started ‘Let’s start by discussing where Kate can visit in Hong Kong.’
Giving your opinion I think she can go to the Peak because she can enjoy the beautiful
view of Hong Kong from there.
Showing agreement That’s right. I like that idea. I think so, too. Great idea. Good point. Right.
Then go on to say why you agree-what you like about the idea.

Showing disagreement I like that idea, but… I see you point but… I get the idea but…
Asking for information Do you agree that we have dinner at a 5-star hotel?
How do you feel about going to the Art Museum? Do you think that would be enough space?

Summarising the discussion All right. Let me summarise what we’ve agreed on. …..
Would anyone like to add anything?
Move on to another topic Well, let’s look at another point. Okay, let’s move on.
