Have your child read each word and name others that begin with the same consonant blend. After reading a story, ask your child to tell about the characters. Ask about the setting with questions such as: Where does the story take place? Does it take place today or long ago? Write these words: bear, build, couldn’t, mother, father, love, straight. Take turns choosing three words and using them in one sentence. Have your child write these spelling words: ask, brave, breeze, clip, hand, mask, nest, state, stop, strap, stream, twin. Give clues about each word for your child to guess and spell. This week your child compared characters in a story. Have your child write a play about two children with very different likes and dislikes who go on a camping trip together.
