OPPORTUNITY PROGRAMS AT NYU
HEOPThe Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) provides a means for traditionally underserved, low-income students to obtain admission to NYU and to receive academic and financial support during their course of study at the University. Through NYU OP, HEOP students are provided with full-need packaging including housing.
CSTEPThe Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) provides a means for students who are historically underrepresented in STEM areas and licensed professions to obtain admission to NYU. OP provides academic support for students to major in a STEM area during their course of study at NYU.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
U.S. Citizen of Permanent Resident
New York State Resident
Strong academic potential
Consistent high school record with A’s and B’s
SAT - Math & EBRW between 1100 and 1300
Inadmissible to NYU through general admission
Meet NYSED economic eligibility guidelines
Students can apply to any of the 10 undergraduate schools and colleges
Full-need packaging inclusive of: NYU scholarship, TAP, Pell Grant, federal subsidized loan, and HEOP stipend
Financial aid for on-campus housing beginning with the first-year
HEOP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Students pursuing STEM areas, health-related fields, or professional licensure
Applicants must identify as African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Native American or Alaskan Native
Applicants who identify as White or Asian/Pacific Islander are eligible based on the NYSED economic eligibility criteria

HOW WE SUPPORT STUDENTSPre-Freshman Summer Program (July – August)Prior to matriculation, all OP freshmen are required to attend a six week Pre-Freshman Summer Program designed to prepare them for their specific program of study during their first year

Academic YearAll OP freshmen are required to take non-credit courses (NCCs), which mirror their credit bearing courses. We also offer NCCs in upper-division math and science courses. Free tutoring is also available to all OP students (freshman-senior) in almost any subject area requested
Counseling All students are assigned an OP Counselor who provides academic and personal guidance throughout their course of study at NYU
