Introduction• The years he explored were: 1607, 1608, 1609, 1610, and 1611.• He was born around the time of 1560 to 1570. He was born in

England.• The company that funded his first explorations was the Muscovy

Company. They also funded his second expedition.• His third exploration was funded by the Dutch East India Company.• His fourth and final exploration was funded by a English company,

whose name is unknown.• The countries funding his explorations were: England.

Exploration• What he achieved was: On expedition one, he found a popular

whale area which opened up new territory. On expedition two, he made it to Novaya Zemlya, and had to turn back. On expedition three, he crossed the Atlantic ocean, and came ashore at what is now Nova Scotia. He discovered a strait in the ocean that led them through the northern waters over Canada, which was later named the Hudson Strait. Henry and his crew were stuck in the icy waters of Hudson’s Bay and were stranded for the winter. Henry’s crew stranded him, his son, and few members in a rowboat, and soon they died.

Conclusion and Reflection• One thing we learned about history from studying our explorer was

that even in the late 1500’s and early 1600’s men were already hunting whales, for oil, and whale bone. Also that mutineers were cruel, even if they had been loyal, and trusted for many years. As had one particular crew member: Robert Juet. Also that many countries and companies competed to find faster routes to other places, to make it faster to ship things.

• A few things we found interesting about our explorer was that he lived to be around 35, until he was stranded. Also that three

different places were named after him: Hudson Bay, Hudson River, and Hudson Strait.
