paisley strip. Matching the raw edges, fold the paisley strip over the cording. Pin and sew next to the cording. If necessary, trim seam allowance to 1/2"

3. Starting at the point indicated and leaving a 2" tail, pin the covered welt to the pillow front, with the raw edges of the welt even with the raw edge of the pillow front. If necessary, clip the cording's seam allowance to help it lay flat on the curves. Using the zipper foot, sew the welt to the pillow front using 1/2" seam allowance. Overlap the ends of the cording and stitch to hold in place. Trim the cording tails.

4. Layer the pillow front with the pillow back, right sides together. Again using the zipper foot, stitch on top of the existing stitches on the pillow front, through all thicknesses. Leave an 8" opening on the lower, left-hand side of the pillow for turning. If necessary, clip curves to ease fullness.

5. Turn the pillow right sides out and stuff to the desired plumpness with the fiberfill. Hand stitch the opening closed to complete the pillow.

Cutting InstructionsFrom the printed panel, cut: (1) heart shape, cut 3/4" beyond the outermost printed elements in the heart motif. From the paisley, cut: (2) 2½" bias strips for the welt. (1) heart shape, layer the heart shape cut from the printed panel with the paisley yardage, wrong sides together, and cut the paisley to make the pillow backing.

Sewing InstructionsAll seams are sewn using 1/4" seam allowance withpieces held right sides together and raw edges even.

1. Stitch the 2½" paisley bias strips together end to end to make a long 2½" strip.2. Install a zipper foot on your sewing machine with the needle positioned on the right-hand side of the foot. Center the cording on the wrong side of the 2¼"

Cutting Instructions for the Crib Sheet

From the blue or pink dot fabric: Remove the selvages. Straighten the fabric and trim the length to 72" making sure both ends are cut with the fabric on grain, as you would for cutting fabric strips for quilting. From the elastic: (4) 12" long pieces.

Sewing Instructions for the Crib Sheet

1. Remove a 9" x 9" square from each corner of the dot fabric as shown.

2. Right sides together, stitch the edges of one corner together, starting with 1/4" seam allowance at the bottom and tapering the seam as shown in the detail diagram below. Repeat for each corner.

3. Turn 1/4" to the wrong side, all around the open edge of the sheet. Press. Repeat this procedure, this time turning 1/2" to the wrong side. Press. Stitch through all thicknesses to complete the hem.

4. Set up your sewing machine for zigzag stitching. Referring to the detail diagram at the top of the next column, center a piece of elastic on a corner seam on the wrong side of the sheet. Starting at the center point, stretch the elastic and stitch through all thicknesses. Repeat for the opposite half of the elastic piece. When released, the elastic should cause the corners to gather. Repeat this procedure for each corner to complete the fitted sheet.

1. Remove the selvages from each 12½" strip. Turn 1/4" to the wrong side along (3) edges of one strip. Press. Turn 1/4" to the wrong side again so that the raw edges are enclosed on three sides of the strip. Stitch through all thicknesses to finish the hems. Repeat for each 12½" strip to make a total of (6) hemmed panels. Stitch (2) hemmed panels together to make a long 12½" panel. Repeat once. There will be a total of (2) 12½" x approximately 82" panels and (2) 12½" x approximately 41" panels.2. Using the method of your choice, gather the top, raw edge of each of the longer panels made in step 1 until the gathered edge of the panel measures 51" long. Gather the top, raw edge of each of the shorter panels made in step 1 until the gathered edge of the panel measures 27" long.3. Right sides together, raw edges even, baste the gathered 12½" panels from step 2, to one of the 28" x 52" dot fabric pieces, starting and stopping all seams 1/4" from the corners.

2. Remove the selvages and sew the 5½" strips together end to end to make a long 5½" strip. Trim this long strip to 330". Turn 1/4" to the wrong side on both short ends and press. Turn 1/4" to the wrong side on both edges again so that the raw edges on both ends are enclosed. Stitch through all thicknesses to complete the hems.

3. Wrong sides together, fold the hemmed 5½" strip in half lengthwise to make a long 2¾" strip and press. To make the ruffle, using the method of your choice, gather the raw edges of this long strip until it measures 164" long.4. Raw edges even, pin the prepared ruffle to one long edge of one 10½" x 164½" blue check or pink toile piece, stopping and starting 1/4" away from both ends. Baste the ruffle in place. Find the center point along each short side of the blue check/pink toile pieces. Mark a point 4" from the center point in both directions on both ends. Center a ribbon tie on each marked point. Baste the ties in place as shown, tucking the ribbons under the ruffle as necessary.

5. Right sides together, layer the second 10½" x 164½" blue check or pink toile piece on top of the unit from step 4. Stitch all the way around using 1/4" seam allowance and leaving a large opening for turning on the long side opposite the ruffle. Clip the corners.

6. Trim the batting to 164" long. Layer the trimmed batting on top of the unit from step 5. By hand, take large basting stitches through all layers to help keep the batting in place when the unit is turned right side out. Turn the unit right side out, smoth the batting and fabric layers until the entire length of the bumper lies flat. Stitch the opening closed using the method of your choice. Remove the basting stitches.

1. Spray the wrong side of the fabric shade with a spray adhesive designed for fabrics, making sure to cover the fabric with a thin, even layer of adhesive. A product which allows the fabric to be repositioned before adhering permanently to the surface of the lamp shade will be easier to work with.

2. Working from the top down, adhere the prepared fabric shade to the outside of the plain white lamp shade. Smooth the fabric using a ruler or straight edge to remove any small ripples.

3. To complete the lamp shade, glue coordinating trim to the outer bottom and upper edges of the lamp shade, making sure the raw edges of the fabric shade are covered.

Cutting Instructions1. On a flat surface, place the bottom of the lamp shade on top of the newspaper and trace around the edge of the shade. 2. Locate the center point of the circle traced in step 1. Using this marked point, center the top of the lamp shade inside the circle traced from the bottom of the shade. Trace the line around the top of the lamp shade.3. Cut out the paper pattern. Audition the paper pattern on top of the lamp shade and note any adjustments that need to be made to achieve a good fit.4. Repeat the procedure from steps 1 and 2 to make a final paper pattern for the lamp shade cover, incorporating any adjustments made in step 3.5. Place the paper pattern on the right side of the paisley fabric and cut out (1) lamp shade cover.
