HELPING THE WORLD GROW THE FOOD IT NEEDSAgriculture provides for every person on the planet. With global
population growing by 75 million people each year, food security is
a defining issue of our time.
In order to feed our increasingly hungry population, food production
must double and possibly even triple by 2050, and it’s estimated
that crop nutrients will be responsible for 77 percent of this
increase. To generate the new levels of abundance required to feed
the world, we must ensure that every cultivated acre of land
is properly fertilized.
As the world’s leading integrated producer of two vital crop
nutrients, potash and phosphate, The Mosaic Company has a
leading role to play.
With international reach from Brazil and India to the heartland of the
United States and Canada, we provide our customers with the crop
nutrients they need to help the world grow the food it needs.

IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO BOOST CROP YIELDS
THE MOSAIC COMPANYAgriculture must have an increasingly dramatic impact to sustain our world. Balanced
crop nutrition is the single most effective way to boost crop yields, illustrating why
Mosaic’s mission to help the world grow the food it needs is so urgent and compelling.
Who we are is more than what we produce — it’s also what we share. Our rich
experience in the field. The proactive planning, service and guidance we provide.
Our deep respect for the land and genuine concern for those who depend on its output.
Mosaic puts far greater emphasis on sustainability and environmental sensitivity than
ever before. And like so many other aspects of what we do, we are committing to
excellence in several areas. We approach the application of crop nutrients by following
the guidelines of the 4Rs: right source, right rate, right time and right place. We
promote the adoption of the 4Rs through the organizations to which we belong
and the farmers who use our products.
Building on our history with innovation in crop nutrition management, we’re delivering
agricultural nutrients to approximately 40 countries worldwide — helping our
customers thrive, and feeding a growing population.

AGRONOMIC EXPERTISE
THE PRODUCTS OF OUR SUCCESSTrust is not a commodity. At Mosaic, we strive to preserve the trust
our customers place in our products and company each and every
day. Strong customer partnerships are essential to fulfilling Mosaic’s
mission to help the world grow the food it needs.
We are committed to building relationships that generate mutual,
long-term success. While our customers are unique, they all have
one thing in common: with ever-changing enhancements to crop
science, they must anticipate seasonal demand patterns.
Mosaic’s substantial size and expansive global reach allow us to
provide our customers with keen agronomic insight and expertise.
By helping customers analyze past seasons’ crop nutrient inventory
levels, providing analysis on market trends, and offering pricing and
timing flexibility, we help our customers better anticipate product
needs, balance inventories and manage risk in often volatile markets.
Listening to what our customers have to say about Mosaic gives us
pride — it’s about increasing yields, helping develop competitive
advantages and delivering on our promise of innovation.
BUILDING CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS
GROWING OUR FUTUREMosaic is committed to providing the crop nutrients needed to help feed the world,
and we must grow to meet ever-rising demand for our products.
The market for potash holds tremendous promise for Mosaic, and we’re investing
more than $5 billion in expansion efforts at our three Canadian potash mines, which
hold a century’s worth of potash reserves. We expect our expansion efforts, involving
nearly a dozen distinct projects, to raise our annual potash mining capacity to
16.1 million tonnes by 2021 — an increase of 50 percent that will reinforce our
position as one of the world’s leading potash producers.
DUAL-NUTRIENT PORTFOLIOINVESTING IN A
As the world’s largest producer of phosphate crop nutrients, Mosaic is committed
to improving our cost structure, advancing innovation, providing superior customer
service and offering investors outstanding returns. We will do this through dedication
to operational efficiency — including improvements in maintenance practices, energy
use and electricity cogeneration capacity — and raising our production capacity
with participation in off-shore rock ventures like Peru’s Miski Mayo mine. Increasing
production of MicroEssentials®, our industry-leading premium fertilizer, further positions
Mosaic for growth and success, provides customers with greater returns and farmers
with higher yields.
No other company delivers two critical crop nutrients — potash and phosphate — to
the global market on such a significant scale. As the world’s crop nutrient needs grow,
Mosaic is growing to meet them.
DUAL-NUTRIENT PORTFOLIO
EFFICIENCY YIELDS RESULTSMosaic is becoming one of the safest, lowest-cost and most capital-
efficient producers in the industry. Our approach starts with taking a
fresh look at all aspects of our operations, both from site-specific and
functional perspectives.
In Mosaic’s Phosphate operations, our Four Corners mine in Florida has
greatly improved coordination between mining and plant operations,
substantially improving productivity, establishing standard operating
procedures and reviewing performance at all levels of the site.
In Potash, our Colonsay, Saskatchewan, facility exceeded efficiency
standards when it milled enough ore to break the record set nearly a
decade ago in June 2002. Our Esterhazy K2 Potash Mine, K2 Mill and
K2 Expansion teams also set the single-day milled tonnes record of ore
being crushed, an increase from the previous mark set in December
of last year.
And this is just the beginning for operational excellence improvements
at Mosaic. We are making steady progress and are confident that this
effort will ultimately give us a sustainable competitive advantage
over our peers.

Whether it’s our promise of a safe work environment, our commitment to developing new technology to
provide higher yields for farmers, our promise to maximize value for our shareholders, our pledge to be a
good steward of natural resources, or our assurances to support our local communities — every promise
we keep enriches those who depend on us and opens new opportunities for Mosaic.
At Mosaic, we keep our promises — from mine to market.
WORLD’S MOST RAPIDLYEXPANDING ECONOMIES
EXPANDING OUR REACHMosaic’s extensive global distribution network serves the world’s most rapidly
expanding economies, including Brazil, India, China, Chile and Argentina. Because our
people are working in the regions where our customers operate and distribute fertilizer,
we have a pulse on the industry across the globe.
Optimizing our production levels and product delivery is only part of the story. A closer
look at our distribution network reveals a highly effective platform for extending our
agronomic expertise and innovation throughout the world.
Mosaic has the ability to test new crop nutrient formulations in the field on a counter-
seasonal basis. We can refine our products year-round so we are always prepared for
the next growing season, regardless of hemisphere. In one year, Mosaic conducted
nearly 600 trials in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, India, Northern Latin
America and the United States.
Our rich understanding of the products best suited to a given region and our ability
to gauge and adjust inventory levels across geographies allow Mosaic to anticipate
customer needs and balance seasonal demand patterns.
Mosaic’s MicroEssentials® products are designed to improve efficiency for farmers.
Their unique design ensures uniform nutrient distribution, providing the essential
nutrients crops need in just one granule. The uniform nutrient distribution is a
significant benefit to farmers and, when applied correctly, virtually guarantees
increased yields — and profits.

TO FEED A GROWING WORLDINCREASING YIELDS
TO FEED A GROWING WORLD
OUR COMMITMENT TO INNOVATION At Mosaic, we envision a world where a sustainable global agricultural
system provides each person the nourishment to survive and thrive.
Mosaic is partnering with the brightest minds at top universities, non-
governmental organizations and industry associations to advance our
knowledge and, ultimately, increase crop yields to feed a growing world.
New product development at Mosaic is focused on generating ideas,
formulating products and testing those innovations across multiple
geographies around the world. Mosaic’s specialized, next-generation crop
nutrients and agronomic expertise deliver higher crop yields, increase
efficiency and bring tangible benefits to farmers around the world.
One example is Mosaic’s partnership with Dr. Fred Below, of the
University of Illinois, to develop advanced agronomic systems
aimed at sustainably increasing corn productivity. The research
combines innovative fertilizer practices with the advanced agronomic
technologies necessary to meet nutrient requirements of modern
corn hybrids. The goal is to optimize yields to meet food production
demands, all while improving farmer profitability.
With a responsibility to enhance crop nutrient use and feed an ever-
increasing global population, Mosaic will continue to operate in an
environmentally sensitive and responsible manner while charting a
comprehensive and proactive course for sustainable yield enrichment.
INCREASING YIELDS
ENRICHING LIVES
FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE Maximizing Mosaic’s impact as a global corporate citizen demands a viable vision. Whether
on a global scale or in our local communities, our commitment to social responsibility is about
more than sustainable business practices — it’s about enriching lives for generations to come.
We are dedicated to being a good steward of the land. Prior to the mine permitting process,
Mosaic performs extensive wildlife and habitat surveys of potential mining lands and works
with regulators to set aside vital floodplain and environmentally sensitive lands for permanent
preservation. In our Phosphate mining operations, after mining, we reclaim every acre of land
that is impacted by our activities.
By turning waste heat into electricity, we greatly reduced our carbon footprint. In 2011, Mosaic
produced enough electricity through cogeneration to satisfy 47 percent of our company-wide
electrical demand. We also reused or recycled approximately 95 percent of all water used in our
Florida Phosphate operations and more than 80 percent in our Canadian Potash shaft mines.
As a neighbor in our local communities, Mosaic is an economic driver, an environmental
steward and a partner in community development. Our work with food agencies helps to
alleviate hunger and address the core social issues in the communities where we operate.
In short, Mosaic is making a tangible difference everywhere we have a presence. Additionally,
the Mosaic Villages Project makes an impact well beyond the communities where we operate
and has more than tripled the yields of subsistence farmers on three continents.
