Issue 2
HELLO WALLIES! Well what a great start to our 2013 season with our very successful Arena Party held on Saturday 2
nd February
We had a great turn out from both riders, supporters and many of our
Life Members. After the official opening by our Club Patron, Guenter
Best, our Treasurer and Life Member, Linda Fletcher (along with her
faithful 22 year old thoroughbred, Mindy) rode the inaugural round in our
new Show Jumping Arena to then be followed by members all keen to
get in and experience the new arena.
As well as the upgrade to the main arena, the show jump warm up arena
has also been extended and has new fencing, the sand arena 3 and 4 in
the 7 acres have been levelled and tidied up and where possible cutting
back of vegetation. Driveways have been resurfaced, mulching,
landscaping and upgrades to ground fencing have also been done.
Of course all of this would not have been possible without the funding
provided by the City of Armadale and The Department of Sport and
Recreation.
Thank you to all who attended and competed, to those who helped out
and a special thank you to the Arena Party committee who organized
and helped to ensure the evening ran smoothly.

Wallangarra Riding & Pony Club would like to remind our friends and
members that our grounds (Fletcher Park) are not ‘public reserves’
such as Riverside. This means for Insurance reasons our grounds
cannot be accessed without first contacting Linda Fletcher. This
includes all PC and Adult riders who intend on riding, training and
even extends to individuals walking their dogs.
Also please be aware that extra Adult Insurance, obtained for
parents, covers you while on grounds should an accident occur but
does not cover you for riding on grounds.
If you are selling a pony/horse and have arranged for someone to
meet you at the pony club to view the pony/horse please be aware
that they cannot ride while on grounds as they are again not covered.
By not taking heed of this information any accidents which do occur
outside of our insurance policy terms and conditions can expose the
pony club to legal complications.

Wally Riders at First Tet Training Clinic
Article by Karen Fouweather
Wallangarra members George Brocklebank, Shannon Meakins and Abby Fouweather rounded off
the summer school holidays at the inaugural Hills Zone Tet Clinic Camp, held during the
Australia Day long weekend at the Gidgegannup Showgrounds.
The camp ran for two massive days and covered every aspect of the upcoming PCAWA State
Tetrathon. Saturday started at 7am with an hour of running and fitness training, followed by a
bacon and egg burger breakfast before heading out to the sprawling Cross Country course for
an hour and a half of intensive training over some fun and challenging jumps. Time for some
lunch then it was off to the Chidlow rifle range for a ninety-minute session with Bernard
Arrantash, the Chief Shooting Steward at WA Tetrathlon competitions in WA.
Training wound up with a swimming session at Mount Helena pool, giving both parents and kids
alike the chance to cool off and grab a shower. Saturday finished up with a communal barbie on
the clubroom decking before repeating the whole thing on Sunday, with the emphasis on honing
and extending the skills introduced the day before.
Our ‘Wally kids’ had an absolute ball on the camp, declaring they could ‘easily’ handle ‘at least’
another three days of the same (whether their parents could is another matter!) A big thank-
you is due to Hills Zone President Trudi Hall and her tireless committee and band of helpers for
working so hard to make it all happen. New friendships were made and vital skills learnt and,
most importantly of all, some of our Wally Tet Team hopefully now have an edge over the
competition!
