EL LIBerTADOR

Hello. My name is Pilar,

and just like my friends Tico and Arturo, I live in a city of red roofs and pared streets.

In my country, nature is exuberant and amazing.

Every morning reveals a display of new colors, and the most fabulous, pristine waterfalls appear here and there, in the middle of pure green mountains.

But my country is not free... as a faraway kingdom is imposing its law and order on us.

The PrODucTIon In 2012, the Venezuelan production company Orinoco Films, started the animated feature film project about the feats of South American hero Simón Bolívar. For the realization of this project Orinoco Films created a team led by director Juan Pablo Buscarini, screen writer Enrique Cortés, and historian Carmen Bohórquez.

Many people stand behind the King and use weapons to prevent things from changing.

The goal was to use the most advanced technology in stereoscopic 3D animation, so they reached out to various specialists in this field worldwide.

Most of us, however, long for freedom... and therefore we fight.

The design process for all the scenery, costumes and characters was completed between 2013 and 2014 in Venezuela, Argentina, United States, Serbia, Hong Kong, and India. Meanwhile motion capture was carried out in London.

The fight is fierce.A brave man named Simón Bolívar leads us.

By early 2015, the film was becoming a reality, but there was still a lot to be done. It was then that the Villa del Cine Foundation became interested in the project and got involved as a major co-producer of the film, in order to impulse and reinforced its realization.

He never gives up, despite the fact that the King’s army is powerful.

He’s a dreamer, like my friends and me.

The time to record the voices arrived and the possibility of working with children was exciting for the production team. The casting took place in Caracas, where over 200 talents were auditioned, including professional actresses specialists in children voices and children actors with non-previous experience in dubbing. As a result we selected the children actors Carlos Pulido, Angella González and Yaguaimar Contreras as the voices of Arturo, Pilar and Tico. A long and intense seven-month training process followed to prepare the children on the technical and dramatic elements required for the project.

One day, Tico, Arturo and I discovered an amazing secret... something nobody expected.

Something capable of changing the course of history forever.

Renowned Venezuelan actress Patricia Velásquez lent her voice to the female protagonist of the story, Pilar as an adult, while the versatile Simón Pestana voiced Latin-American hero Simón Bolívar.

To bring more realism to the voices of villains Solórzano and Madrigal, Spanish actors were hired to work in separate sessions in the city of Madrid.

Thus begins a fantastic adventure that will turn us into...

The score was written by Spanish composer Zacarías de la Riva and performed by Venezuela’s National Philharmonic Orchestra, along with the Venezuelan singer Betsayda Machado and a talented group of artists, associated with the Venezuelan National Network of Youth and Children’s Orchestras. It was recorded in Caracas, at the José Félix Rivas Hall of the Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex, in September 2016.

Thus ends a long, complex production process that would make possible the premier in 2017 of the first South American film that uses MoCap technique and the first Venezuelan 3D stereoscopic animation feature film...
