Be Smart1. You are allowed to use textbooks, chromebooks,

and devices to figure out the answer to the puzzles.

2. Remember, all puzzles are tied to media literacy in some way!

3. Mind the off limits areas!

4. Place puzzle materials in purple basket when solved.

Be Mindful1. You will not be the only students playing this

Breakout EDU game today.2. Sharing your experience with students who have

yet to play will diminish their experience.3. You are competing against other classes to

breakout as quickly as possible.4. If you lose or damage game materials, you will

affect other students gaming experience and create even more work for the teacher.

5. Please be MINDFUL - Thank you!

While on a field trip to the Museum, you pass the Archivist on her way

to share her passion and knowledge of primary sources with a group of

teachers from all across America. It is also time for her annual review,

and her boss is a very creative supervisor. Always prepared and better

than punctual, the Archivist’s boss finds her on her way to the Learning

Center (LC) with her cart of primary sources 45 minutes before her

presentation begins.

Here’s what the boss said:

My challenge for you,If you stay true,

Is to fix all your documents,And continue earning your emoluments.

I’ve switched things all around,Yet E.S.C.A.P.E. must still be found.

Be sure to solve all puzzles,Using more brains to avoid struggles.

Use who you first see,To help unlock the mysteries!

Guess what?! Your class is the first group the Archivist sees!

Immediately, she enlists your help to organize her documents to fit

within the E.S.C.A.P.E. framework of “junk news.” Every letter of

E.S.C.A.P.E. is represented by at least one artifact and a puzzle, but the

boss switched them all around. Sort out which artifact(s) goes to what

letter, and solve all the puzzles to unlock the locks. Once everyone can

explain with certainty how each letter is represented by an/artifact(s),

you will receive the FINAL key and the power of the Archivist to unlock

the mysteries!
