Heavy Haul Rail 2015 Welcome

www.informa.com.au/heavyhaul15

Australia’s heavy haul rail infrastructure and operations, boasting the heaviest and longest trains in the world, continue to underpin the success and efficiency of the resources sector.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Australasian Railway Association’s (ARA) 5th annual Heavy Haul Rail conference and exhibition, which will be held in Perth for the first time on the 22nd – 23rd June 2015. This year we are proud to partner with the International Heavy Haul Association who will be hosting their biennial event in Perth, with the program returning to Australia for the first time since 2001.

The programs will complement each other fantastically. The IHHA program draws on research and development experiences from every corner of the world. The ARA’s annual program showcases the very best in local and International project development expertise. Australia leads the way in so many areas in this industry and our agenda will provide unique insights into current and deployed engineering know-how, investment and operational excellence.

By combining these two world renowned programs we hope to succeed in shining a spotlight on one of Australia’s industrial success stories.

This year the ARA’s Heavy Haul Rail program features an unrivalled breadth of operational knowledge; with international and homegrown

experts including the operations chief executives from Norfolk Southern Corporation (USA), Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and Aurizon. Four of the world’s largest heavy haul rail operators on one program.

The agenda is designed to give delegates a thorough understanding of the strategic directions of the major players and assess global developments in equipment, technology and maintenance. Sharing some sessions and social functions with the IHHA conference, ARA delegates will benefit from high-level insights and unparalleled networking opportunities.

I look forward to welcoming you to this major global event.

Bryan Nye OAM, CEO, Australasian Railway Association
