Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to interview week! I would like to take the opportunity to thank staff for their effort in

completing assessments to inform their reporting to parents and students. It takes an enormous amount

of time to prepare for reports and staff efforts are greatly appreciated. Thank you to parents for booking

their interview times. If you haven’t made a booking please do so as soon as possible.

Lunches

If you are bringing food/lunch boxes to school for your child, please leave it in the office to be collected.

As part of our compliance with Child Safety Standards we are monitoring adults in the yard at break

times. It would assist us greatly if you could drop lunches in to the office (marked with your child’s name).

Thank you for your support.

Foundation students growing up!

As we move into the second part of the year it is timely to think about our Foundation students becoming

more independent! It has been wonderful to watch them develop this year, they know the routines of

the school and are feeling very comfortable in our school environment. At this stage of the year, students

should be carrying their own bags and be happy to come into the classroom and get themselves

organised and ready for learning before the bell rings – after they have given you a hug goodbye! As par-

ents it can be tricky to start and take a step back and allow your child to increase their independence,

Consent forms

Last week I attended a Law and Order day in Bendigo. One important item I took away from the day was

regarding consent forms for excursions etc. The Lawyers stated the only person who can legally sign a

consent form is the legal guardian or parent, step parents do not have the rights that parents/legal

guardians have. If this impacts on your family, can you please ensure that the parent or legal guardian

signs the form. Thank you for your support.

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews

Thank you to those parents who have booked in for their interview next week. Don’t forget you will need

to allow time before the interview to read your child’s report, look at the communication book and

then go into the interview. Students will set some academic and/or social goals for the remainder of

the year as a result of their discussions with parents and their classroom teacher. Interviews are spread

over four nights to enable all parents the opportunity to book in. Reports will not be sent home with

students. The opportunity to sit and discuss your child’s report with their teacher is a valuable one and

will provide a clear direction for learning for the remainder of the year. We appreciate your support and

involvement in this process.

Late Arrivals

Late arrivals to class in the morning interrupt student learning, often students are missing out on instruc-

tion time. Classroom teachers have noticed an increase in the number of late arrivals to their first session

in the morning. Students should be at school by 8.50 to allow them time to organise their belongings and

get ready for learning. If a student misses 10 minutes per day, that equals 50 minutes a week, nearly 1.5

weeks a year. If a child misses an hour a day, that equals 1 day a week, that equals 8 weeks of school

per year. Lateness and absence from school have a significant impact on student learning. Please make

sure your child is here on time every day before 9.00am to start their learning.

Jobs around the school!

Please contact the office if you are able to help out with any of these jobs.

We have a number of jobs that need to be completed around the school. We have moved our working

bee to early next term. We are happy for people to volunteer and come in at a time that suits their family

to help out. The school does not own a blower vac or mower. All help is greatly appreciated.

Rake and refill the soft fall under the playground equipment

Blower vac around under the veranda’s of the classroom/gallery building

Blower vac the gutters down from the staff carpark and at the brown wooden gate at the car park

Cleaning windows

Weeding around the staffroom building, garden beds

Planting under the large trees outside the office

Mowing near the staffroom under the bike rack, mowing near the kitchen

Whipper snipping in the vegie garden

Have a great weekend.
