I just returned from another fabulous trip to Israel, God really blessed our group! This trip was unique from the others because we started in the south in the areas, referred to in the Bible as the Negev, and the wilderness of Paran. We visited Beersheba where Abraham, the father of our faith, dwelt during his life on earth. One of the themes our guide pointed out was “the wilderness” and Israel’s wanderings in it. Boy did I see a lot of parallels in my own wilderness experiences. One day our guide took us for about a three-hour hike through the wilderness
of Paran so we could get a real perspective of what it was like for Israel to wander in the wilderness with the Lord leading and providing for them. While we were hiking I thought to myself what a shame that the Exodus generation never entered the Promised Land! The book of Numbers records this tragedy. They wandered in this vast wilderness after God delivered them from Egypt but never saw the wonderful things that God had in store for them in the new land that He desired for them. The reason they perished in the wilderness rather than receive what God promised for them is because of their lack of faith and obedience to His Word. If there’s anything the book of Numbers teaches us it’s that the promises of God can only be received through faith and obedience to His Word. Hiking through the wilderness was a marvelous experience and it really was beautiful. After a short time though, you get tired of seeing the same old scenery. I couldn’t imagine waking up every morning for 40 years and hiking through terrain that looked the same, but that is what Israel did. Imagine having to live in tents and never having the opportunity to build a permanent home. Their food consisted of a limited menu of pretty much manna and quail except for the few times they slaughtered some of their livestock. Israel forfeited a lot because of their lack of faith and obedience to the Lord. This happened to the modern state of Israel too. On the plane ride home I was reading a book I picked up from a local bookstore in Jerusalem. The former Mayor of Shiloh (Shiloh is a town about 20 miles outside of Jerusalem) wrote it. In the book he pointed out an important fact about the six-day war of 1967, where God gave them a miraculous victory. When Israel was attacked by the surrounding Arab nations Israel captured key biblical sites that were important to their Jewish roots and their history as a nation in the Promised Land, including the Temple Mount. It was obvious that the victory, along with the biblical territory, was a gift from God. Despite Israel being far outnumbered, they won the war in only 6 days and then rested on the seventh. However the leadership
Receiving the Promises of God
of Israel was not ready for the challenge of keeping the biblical sites and they failed to act in faith to what God gave them. The leadership of Israel was more concerned with what the United States and the rest of the world would say or think so they gave back these key biblical places -- including the Temple Mount. If Israel had acted in faith and obedience to what God was giving them it would be a different story today. Isn’t this true of us also? God has made all kinds of promises to us in His Word. God’s Word is loaded with promises for you and I today. There’s a book out entitled, “Promises from God’s Word.” It is a treasure trove of guidance for daily challenges. It covers topics such as peace, direction, wisdom, healing, perspective, prayer, faith, courage, and forgiveness. More than 2,000 promises from scripture are listed in this book alone. Here’s my point: When you read the Bible -- obey it and receive God’s promises in faith. You may be wandering in the wilderness because you’ve never received His promises through faith and failed to obey His Word. God desires so much for you! Blessings,
Pastor Walt

Preaching/Teaching Class Chisinau, Moldova.
Ten students studied long and hard, and ultimately discovered what so any others before them have grasped: Scripture comes alive when you allow the Bible to speak for itself! They also discovered that not only could they understand it better, but also they could share their discoveries with others. The final exam for this class is a 10 to15 min. sermon or lesson. Several were outstanding, with Vitalik, who currently serves as pastor for Stella’s House orphanage, leading the pack. It was especially rewarding to sense God’s Spirit speaking to me through their messages. The learners truly became the teachers and preachers! We praise the Lord for your partnership that made this class possible. God worked. Lives were changed. Servants were equipped for a life-time of ministry! And you played a crucial role through your prayers and financial support! Thank you for being our partners as together we make disciples! Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission in this generation,
Tom and Deborah Nite

“I remember the moment, I remember the pain, I was only a girlbut I grew up that day. Tears were falling, I know You saw me.Hiding there in my bedroom, so alone. I was doing my best -Trying to be strong. No one to turn to. That’s when I met You.All this time, from the first tear cry, to today’s sunrise, and every single moment between. You were there, You were always there. It was You and I -You’ve been walking with me all this time.Ever since that day it’s been clear to me, that no matter what comes You will never leave.I know You’re for me and You’re restoring.Every heartache and failure, every broken dream- You’re the God who sees. The God who rescued me.
