Managing Cardiovascular Risks in Pregnancy
Activity DirectorLee. B. Padove, MD
Director, Northside Hospital Maternal CardiologyNorthside Hospital Cardiovascular Care
Increasing maternal mortality is a recently identifi ed area of growing concern. Currently, in the United States, most cardiologists are not specifi cally trained to care for pregnant women with CVD. Knowledge of the hemodynamic changes and their effects on the cardiovascular system are often not considered when treating these patients. With the increased acuity of peripartum cardiac disease, the medical management can be compromised as providers are
concerned about the effect of medications on the fetus. Care for these patients is a collaborative approach and we have a unique opportunity to provide education on this topic from world experts.
Learn best practices from experts who have treated a high volume of maternal patients experiencingcomplex cardiovascular disorders.
