Winter weather is in full force, which can wreak havoc on your hair. Hair is extremely sensitive to its environment, especially in winter, when it’s frequently exposed to extreme weather and changes in temperature and humidity.

Everything from the cold temperatures to rain, snow and wind may cause hair to become static, dull, dry and frizzy. Dry central heating and frequent hat wearing further exacerbate these conditions. Whatever winter symptoms you have, keeping your hair healthy is critical in helping it look its best throughout the winter season. Here are some simple tips to winter-proof your hair;

Use a deep conditioning treatment at least once a week. The high level of protective ingredients will help mitigate static and frizz caused by changes in humidity. Apply a couple of drops of serum to the ends. This will not only provide healthy-looking shine but also help avoid static frizz – particularly important when taking hats on and off to beat the winter blues.

Towel dry the majority of the water from your hair before using the dryer. Not only will this make hair easier to style, it will help avoid dryer-related damage, keeping it looking winter radiant.

FORMAL SEASONThat time of the year is creeping up on us once again, when the salon is a buzz with students from across the Hills ready to kick up their heels in celebration at their respective school formals.

Of course apart from the ever important dress or suit comes the hair and make-up to top it all off. Our S*kapade stylists are all trained on the latest up-styles and formal trends so make sure you book in early to avoid disappointment for that big night!!!

BRRR... IT’S COLDWell the last of summer has certainly left us behind forcing us to begin rugging up with our winter woollies to escape the chill.

But, unfortunately, there is no hibernating for the winter here at the salon and the S*kapade team have been keeping busy with many in-salon training courses including balyage, curling techniques, up styles (in preparation for the upcoming formal season) and cutting to keep up-to-date with the latest style trends and techniques. We also head off to Hair Expo over the June long weekend for further professional development and networking.

Apart from all the extra training over the last few months we also got to take time out to celebrate the salon’s 12th birthday in April as well as Carly and James’ engagement party with plenty of champagne and dancing! (check out the photos).
