BRRR... IT’S COLDWell the last of summer has certainly left us behind forcing us to begin rugging up with our winter woollies to escape the chill.

But, unfortunately, there is no hibernating for the winter here at the salon and the S*kapade team have been keeping busy with many in-salon training courses including balyage, curling techniques, up styles (in preparation for the upcoming formal season) and cutting to keep up-to-date with the latest style trends and techniques. We also head off to Hair Expo over the June long weekend for further professional development and networking.

Apart from all the extra training over the last few months we also got to take time out to celebrate the salon’s 12th birthday in April as well as Carly and James’ engagement party with plenty of champagne and dancing! (check out the photos).

In this winter edition of our newsletter you’ll find a bundle of ideas for winter style trends, how to keep your hair healthy during these chilly months as well as some great discounts to use in the salon.

Enjoy!

WINTER FASHION CUTSAhhh, winter. Time for sweaters, snow, roaring fires and copious amounts of hot chocolate. It’s also the best time of year to make big changes to your hair. For winter 2011, everything concerning hair means SUPER!!! Long hair becomes even longer, while short hair is super short.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Shaggy BobsThe layered short bob is ‘the’ trend for winter and is the less daring alternative to the short pixie. Incorporating choppy layers with a textured finish, shaggy bobs are easy to style and a great fit for every face shape.

Long LayersThis winter trend means very long natural hair, no matter how you style it. Long hair allows you the versatility of changing where you position your part, wearing it straight or super wavy, up or down. And by adding soft layers around the face and throughout you also get that extra oomph of body for a sexy look.

Soft PixieThe pixie cut is the “it” haircut right now and so many celebrities are jumping on the bandwagon. This cut oozes self-confidence & enhances the natural beauty of your facial features while style-wise it’s super low-maintenance - perfect for this time of year when shopping & snuggling take precedence over everything else.

the S*Kapade TeamandMelonie

Jammie-Lee and her partner Dylan are preparing for the arrival of their first child in September. The team is extremely excited about the new addition to our S*kapade family with speculation about whether the stork will be delivering a little boy or girl split fairly evenly. What do you think?

Jammie-Lee will be commencing maternity leave at the end of July and we wish her all the luck for this exciting new period in her life.

MAKE-UP CLASSESWant to be able to walk out the door with a flawless finish for any occasion?Hair and clothes are often the biggest of our concerns when we put ourselves together to walk out the door, but it’s the subtlety of the make-up applied which really pulls a look together.

Spend one hour with the S*kapade stylist of your choice in our salon to teach you ‘hands-on’ how to apply professional looking make-up with our beautiful and light Mary Kay products.

RED HOTThis winter, redheads are the new bombshells. Being a rare hair colour puts redheads into their own exclusive group; but that doesn’t mean you can’t join them.

Celebrities like Rihanna and Florence Welchman have set the trend for bold & vibrant hues of red embracing their confidence and sexuality.

Move over blondes, it seems red-heads will be having all the fun this winter!
