PURPOSE of CONFERENCE CALL

Black folks are the most obese people in the world (per CDC data). African-American women, especially

our Caribbean sisters are the most obese group, exceeding Black men and Latina’s.

"Podunk" Baptist church on the corner of any MLK Blvd in America does not have access to Rick

Warren's "Dream Team", namely Dr. Oz, Dr. Amen and Dr. Hyman. These are the men who assisted Rick

Warren in designing a program to address obesity in his church.

This slide describes a program and a Dream Team that is experienced and dedicated to all people of color , to

address the wellness needs of those most “at-risk”

Mr. Warren came up with the idea for "The Daniel Plan" a few years ago while doing

baptisms "the old-fashioned way"—by physically raising and lowering people into the

water. That day he baptized 850 people. "That's about 150,000 pounds, which is why I'm so buff," he says with a chuckle. "But as

I'm lowering people, I literally felt the weight of America's obesity problem," he adds. "I

thought, good night, we're all fat!" Then he says he realized, "Good night, I'm fat!“

What does “Podunk” Baptist church on the corner of any MLK BLVD in America do to address their

Obesity problem?!!

Is their program truly replicable and practical for the small-to mid-size church?
