Health insurance ┼ Heath care – the prevenion of diseases;

to heal a wound (contributed by professionals in the health care system)

┼ Health insurance – (like other forms of insurance) is determinated by the way it’s used; in cases of health care that include medical expenses

┼ Hugh the Elder Chamberlen introduced the concept of health insurance in 1694.

┼ Modern health care programs were establish in the late 20th century.

┼ Patients were expected to pay all health costs before the creation of health insurance.

┼ Today, health insurance guarantees coverage of basic preventive treatments, most of prescription drugs and emergency treatments.

┼ Models of health plans : national model - government is the sole provider of health care and does it through taxpayer dollars ; universal model - combination of public and private coverage funded by a single entity that may or may not be the government (a single-payer system in which one source, such as an insurance company or the government, finances the country’s health care)

┼ the average salary of a doctor in the U.S. is more than $100,000, but the salary can triple based on the job title

Health insurance in Croatia┼ universal model - a single-payer system in which the

government finances the country’s health care (HZZO)┼ people under the age of 18 are health insured by taxpayers

(the government), over the age age of 18 employed people are insured by their job and senior citizens are insured by pension funds

┼ health insurance in Croatia is mandatory┼ the right to health care includes : the right to primary health

care, the right to hospital care, the right to use drugs that are on the basic and supplementary list of HZZO, the right for dental prosthetic and dental prosthetic restorations, the right to orthopedic and other aids, the right of health care abroad

┼ the right to financial compensation includes: compensation of salary during sick leave, cash compensation for temporary incapacity, compensation of travel expenses in connection with health care
