For the last six weeks of Lent, we have not heard the Alleluia. We leave church today with Alleluia ringing in our ears to remind us that through baptism, we already share in the new life of the resurrection. So, we sing Alleluia to express our joy

because we are an Easter people.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. He has entered a new neighborhood and has made room for us. After three days in the tomb, Jesus rose again to display his power over death—all death—his and ours. The resurrection is a sign of God’s power and of human hope. We have nothing to fear. We trust God’s complete desire to end all misery and to raise us up in glory. The letter to the Colossians say, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above...Think of what is above, not of what is on earth.” With the resurrection of Jesus, we have moved into a new neighborhood. We no longer live in a place of sin and suffering. We live in a place of hope and glory. We sustain this happy life when we seek what is above, not what is on earth. We contemplate the life of prayer, charity, and peacefulness, not the life of greed, selfishness, and hatred. We live in a new place away from the additions of old. This Easter day brings immense rejoicing. It also brings expectations. It expects that we who are privileged to live with the risen Christ will keep up the neighborhood. We will have all the help we need from the Spirit who dwells within us. This Easter, let us joyfully think of what is above and place ourselves at the service of the One who will raise us up in glory.

Fr. John Celebrates 25 Years in the Priesthood It is with gratitude and praise to God that I prepare to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of my Ordination to the Priesthood, which was May 16, 1992. I would like to invite you to join in my anniversary celebration which will take place on the weekend of May 13th and 14th at Christ, Prince of Peace Church in Ford City and on May 21st at Saint Lawrence Church in Cadogan. I will have the 5:00 PM Mass on May 13th and the 11:00 AM Mass on May 14th at Christ, Prince of Peace Church. There will be a reception in the school cafeteria following each Mass. I will have the 9:00 AM Mass and the 7:00 PM Mass on May 21st at St. Lawrence Church. There will be a reception in the parish social hall following the 9:00 AM Mass. I hope you will plan to join me at one of these masses and receptions. After Easter, we will include an RSVP slip in the bulletin for you to indicate if you plan to come to one of the receptions, so that we can plan accordingly.

This Thursday, April 20th, Mass will be celebrated @ 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence instead of 8:00 AM.

Divine Mercy Novena will be held daily at 3:00 PM at Christ, Prince of Peace Church until

concluding celebration on Sunday, April 23rd. This will include Divine Mercy prayers, holy hour with benediction.

New Middle School Priesthood Discernment Group “Jeremiah Days” is a new opportunity for middle school aged boys and their parents or guardians to gather to learn, discuss and pray about a vocation to the priesthood. LAST SUPPER CARVED PLAQUE RAFFLE Divine Redeemer School is raffling off a hand carved Last Supper plaque into poplar wood which was crafted and donated by George Skamai. The plaque measures 15” x 27”. Tickets are $10 each and proceeds benefit Divine Redeemer School. The drawing will be held on Wednesday, May 24th. Luncheon The L.C.B.A. will be hosting their Spring Soup & Salad Luncheon on Sunday, April 30th from

11:30 AM - 1:00 PM, in the Divine Redeemer Cafeteria. Pre-orders for quarts of soup (chicken noodle or vegetable) will be taken before and after Masses on April 23rd. Soup is $8.00 per
