Pastoral Ponderings Walk as He Walked “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 Jn. 2:6). Baptism I am excited when people who have trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord obey God’s Word and are baptized. Baptism does not save a person but through baptism an individual communicates that he or she has trusted Jesus Christ as Savior and is committed to living for Him, the one who died, was buried, and rose again. We are having baptism today and then again on Sunday, August 27. Please talk to me or a staff member if you want to be baptized. In order to join Catawba Baptist Church, a person needs to either be baptized, provide a letter of church membership from another church of like mind, or make a statement that he has trusted Christ as Savior and been baptized by immersion. If you have any questions about joining Catawba Baptist, please let us know. SS Life Group Leadership Meeting If you are a Sunday School Life Group teacher or worker or an inreach, fellowship, or evangelism coordinator, we expect you to join us for a leadership meeting on Sunday, August 20 at 4:30 pm in the fellowship hall. We will be starting a new church year on September 1 and want to hit the ground running. We will be sharing principles of effective Sunday School and talking about curriculum for the fall. Those working with Youth and Children are expected to attend as well. I look forward to seeing you then!
