His life must be able to bear public scrutiny. Pastors have to be role models. He must serve Christ with humility through trials and tears (v.19). Sin is frustrating and disappointing. A pastor weeps for those who do not yet know Christ. It’s also a huge responsibility to lead the bride of Christ for whom he will be held accountable. Ministry business is tough! Therefore, he must serve the Lord with great humility. He must preach repentance (v 21). He preaches repentance toward God and faith toward Jesus. The greatest need of GCAC is “TRUTH from the WORD”. His primary duty and calling is to “Preach the Gospel”. He must be God’s to command (vv. 22-24). The Lord is his Master. A pastor’s principal work is the Word, while preaching is his practice. Pastors must finish the race with their hands bound to Jesus’ hands. UPDATE: We submitted several new resumes to Pastor Jeff Norris, (Our District Superintendent) for possible consideration so that we may proceed and ask these candidates to fill out an application. Separately, the Search Committee felt led to move forward with one of the two candidates spoken of back in June. This candidate had face-to-face interviews with the Governing Board, Elder Board, and Pastoral Staff. Each group provided feedback to the search committee, and we are presently assimilating their input and praying about where God may lead with possible next steps. The Search Committee wants to thank you for praying and fasting – this is a huge responsibility for all of us. Stand strong, Satan will try to use this time to cause disunity. We know that the man God brings will be His victory gift reminding us of the ascended Christ. Serving Him Together, The Senior Pastor Search Committee DON’T BE LEFT OUT! Important Church Directory Update… The roster for the new church directory will be available at the table in the narthex on Sunday 7/22 & 7/29 and during the week in the main office. To be included in the new directory, each family will need to inial that they approve the informaon that will be printed. Without this approval, you may be le out. Stop by today!
