Theory of HDMI

The High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an all-digitalaudio/video interface capable of transmitting uncompressed streams.

HDMI also incorporates Digital Rights Management technology. HDMI

provides an interface between any compatible digital audio/video source,

such as a set-top box, a DVD player, a PC, a video game system, or an AV

receiver and a compatible digital audio and/or video monitor, such as a

digital television (DTV).

It is a modern replacement for older analogue standards such as SCART orthe RCA connector.

Versions It have different versions release since 2002. The most updated one is HDMI 1.3 released on June 2006 Supports output of Dolby TrueHD & DTS-HD Master Audio streams for

external decoding by AV receivers. They are used on HD DVDs &

Blue-ray Discs.

PlayStation 3 is the first product available on consumer market withHDMI 1.3
