VA-1838 can be used as simple signal generator. It will output basic test patterns with HDMI 300MHz pixel clock.

VA-1838 simulates AV amplifier. You will confirm how your product reacts when connecting with Repeater devices.

Function mode

VA-1838 simulates TV. It confirms video timing, InfoFrames, HDCP and CEC status. By editing VA-1838’s EDID, it simulates other monitor.

VA-1838 is placed between the Source (Blu-ray Player) and Sink (TV). It monitors communication of DDC/CEC lines, and save its log data.Note) Through mode supports TMDS clock up to 225MHz.

Video timing of input signal is displayed. Visual form of timing format is one of unique functions.

The video data of the designated line or pixel is viewed here. It displays color depth, and colorimetry information. You can also view it by either XYZ color system or each RGB color level by switching.

HDCP is a copy protection function for HDMI.Major items for HDCP recognition are displayed. Ri and Ri’ values are updated accordingly.

Waveforms of SDA (Serial Data Line) and SCA (Serial Clock Line) are displayed. This visual image is useful to check access to DDC line, or clock frequency.

CEC commands communication is viewed here. Command details and time are displayed. Either Hexadecimal or GUI display are available. This data is saved as log data.

Audio Timing

DDC (Display Data Channel) line is monitored here. EDID reading and HDCP certification is confirmed. This data is saved as log data.

Generate patterns

VA-1838 displays selected InfoFrame (AVI, SPD, Audio, MPEG and VSI) or other data packet of incoming video.

4Kx2K picture is displayed either by scaling to VA-1838's display size or by Dot-by-Dot. In case of Dot-by-Dot display, you can confirm its whole image by scrolling the picture.

This is useful for hardware engineers by checking waveform visually. By setting trigger to a certain OP Code or error, waveform holds at that moment and easily checked out. Access timing is displayed, too.
