A new salon, Airheads, will be open January 6, 2020 and is located at

804 N. Boggs Avenue (in the back of Golden Towers).

♦ When you have a change of employment, HCHA

needs to know.

♦ Work Orders-Emergency orders will be handled

within 24 hours. Non-Emergency orders can be up to

30 days.

♦ Shopping carts are to be taken back to the storage

area immediately after use so it’s available for

others. If a cart is found in your apartment and not

returned to the storage area, a written warning will

be issued. If a second offense is recorded, there will

be a monetary fine of $10 imposed. If a third

offense is recorded, there will be a monetary fine of

$15 and a 14-day notice issued which may result in lease

termination.

♦ Please make sure all dog leashes/chains are pulled up to the door so it doesn’t get

caught up in the snow blower. Per the policy, if the animal is taken outside they must

be on a non-retractable leash, no longer than 6 ft. Please pick up mats outside also.

♦ Dress in layers, wear a hat, scarf, and gloves.

♦ Change your clothes right away if they get damp or wet.

♦ Assemble a winter survival kit to include: flashlight, batteries, blanket, water,

gloves, ice scraper/snowbrush, extra winter clothes, and hand warmers.

♦ Heat up frozen locks with hand sanitizer.

♦ Put socks on windshield wipers to avoid de-icing blades in the morning.

♦ Park facing the sun.

♦ Wrap gallon size plastic bags and secure with rubber bands to keep side mirrors

snow and ice free on vehicles.

♦ Apply zip ties to your bicycle tires to gain more traction.

Census Bureau: The Census Bureau provides vital information for you and your

community. It is very important to get an accurate count when doing the census.

Therefore, be sure to respond and complete your census submission. The census

mailings and phone calls are likely to start in March.

Access to Justice (A2J) Center

The Access to Justice (A2J) Self-Help Centers are walk-in centers where

qualifying visitors may receive information and legal advice on how to help

themselves out in court.

This service is available every Thursday, beginning December 5, 2019 from

12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

BROCCOLI CHEESE SOUP

INGREDIENTS:

1/2 cup butter; 1 onion, chopped; 1 (16 oz.) package

frozen broccoli; 4 (14.5 oz.) cans chicken broth; 1 (1

pound) processed cheese, cubed; 2 cups milk;

1 tablespoon garlic powder, 2/3 cup cornstarch; 1 cup

water

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. In a pot, melt butter over medium heat. Cook onion

in butter until softened. Stir in broccoli and cover with

chicken broth. Simmer until broccoli is tender, 10-15

minutes.

2. Reduce heat and stir in cheese cubes until melted.

Mix in milk and garlic powder.

3. In a small bowl, stir cornstarch into water until

dissolved. Stir in soup until thick.
