Our matching grant challenge for Namo Buddha projects is in full swing and we are pleased by the enthusiastic response. We still need another $10,000.00 in donations, however, to make the full match. Please share this reminder about the challenge and the benefit it will bring to Nepal. WITH YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT, WE CAN TURN $25,000.00 INTO $50,000.00 TOGETHER WE CAN COMPLETE THE PLAYGROUND FOR THE YOUNG MONKS AT SMDBS AND FUND THE COMMUNITY SERVICE PROVIDED BY NAMO BUDDHA MENTSEE KHANG (CLINIC) December 21, 2016 Dear Friends, Please excuse the long silence. I have just returned from Sarnath, India where the annual seminar was taking place at Vajra Vidya Institute. On the 9th of December Thrangu Rinpoche's 84th birthday was celebrated with prayers, body, speech, and mind offerings, birthday cake, original poems, and singing by the very little monks. It was quite joyous and Thrangu Rinpoche is healing nicely from his second knee surgery. While the currency change in India is challenging, everyone is finding ways to manage including keeping the shedra monks in Nepal rather than migrating as usual to VVI. The less mouths to feed right now, the better they are able to manage. As soon as things settle a bit in India they will return and the usual study life of the monastery will return. We have an update below on the current status of our Matching Funds Campaign. Please remember that you, our donors, are our best fundraisers ~ don’t be shy to share the joy of your HCF connection with others ~ it might spread more joy! I will follow up soon with more news, but for now I would like to offer my true gratitude not only for your generosity, but for your great enthusiasm to connect with those in need and for bringing so much positive benefit into the world. May the Blessings of the New Year flow to all, – Debra Ann Butter lamps in honor of Thrangu Rinpoche. Young monks with festive hats singing Blowing out the candles on the cake!
