Class News

Foundation Stage

What a busy week we have had! Everyone has enjoyed getting to know

our new nursery children and all of the older children have being

amazing at helping them to settle in; we are all very proud. Every day

this week the ‘magical story box’ has made an appearance, bringing us a

selection of traditional tales to read. Sprinkling the magic story dust

made some of the characters come to life and we were so pleased when

they stayed to read the books to us.

On Monday we will be celebrating our new theme of traditional tales by

encouraging the children to dress up as their favourite character from

one of these books. The children will have a fun morning of completing

activities such baking troll biscuits, building the three little pigs houses

and making masks. We can't wait to see all of their homemade outfits! Miss Painter, Mrs Lovell, Mrs Stearne, Mrs Thompson, Mrs Gaimster

Class 1

This week Class 1 have started their new book – ‘Rosie

Revere, Engineer’. We have learnt what an engineer is and

have researched some famous engineers and the

inventions they created. We then became engineers

ourselves, after being set the challenge of constructing

something using only wine gums and cocktail sticks! We

had lots of fun using our imagination and being creative –

we think we are going to enjoy being engineers this half

term! Miss Schofield, Mrs Ross

Class 2

What an eventful week it has been! First, the children had

to apply for jobs at Private Investigations Ltd! After

receiving correspondence from a concerned mother

regarding her missing daughter they got straight to work

trying to figure out the next steps they must take to solve

the mystery. On top of all this hard work, the children have

begun to uncover the secrets of the Chinese Shang Dynasty

in history and made enquiries about different states of

matter in science! Miss Aspinall, Miss Riley, Mrs Brammer

Class 3

Class 3 have had a great start back after the holidays and have worked

incredibly hard in all subjects.

We have been measuring angles in maths and thinking about our value of

perseverance and our goals for this year. As well as this, on Wednesday,

we had a science day where we were looking at lifecycles of living things.

The children investigated different species groups such as mammals,

reptiles and amphibians and also found out about parts of plants and

ways that seeds are dispersed. Mrs Findlay, Mrs Callaghan, Mr Hammond
