LOGOSDescription:A company/individual approached me and asked if I could design theirlogo. They left it up to me to do some research for insight on what type oflogo would best communicate their brand. They asked me to design three, completely different, variations for their consideration.

    Date:11/02/13

    Course/Instructor:COMM 130 section 06Julie Peterson

    Program(s)/Tools:Adobe Illustrator CS6

Objectives:Create a variety of logos to t a company or personal image. Use the basictools of Illustator.

Process:First I had to decide the business and their product. I used Illustrator tocreate some simple shapes to make the logos for Evangelines Boutique touse. I focused mainly on the typography and using that to display a goodrepresentation of the business. After making three logos I turned it in for peerreview. For the second logo down I added more with the dashed lines tomake it not so plain but still simple. Then I printed it off for the nal review.

    Program(s)/Tools:TextWrangler, Photoshop

Objectives:Create a web page for a business using HTML to display a logo and content.Acquire a working knowledge of HTML and basic understanding of CSS.

Process:For this webpage I rst had to learn how to use HTML to make the basicstructure of my website. This included the title, headings, logo, unordered list, paragraphs, links, and image tags. Then I used CSS to decorate the page. Thisincluded adding color, moving the text over/aligned, changing font families, adding borders and background colors. Once I nished this process I took itin for a peer review, in which they told me to better align my list elements. Ieditted the padding so they were all on one side, and the image oating onthe left. I also made the text of the paragraph different from the list elementsto add contrast. Then I nished by printing it out for the nal review.

IMAGINGDescription:I am applying for a job at a photography studio and I need to demonstrategood photography and image editing skills. I submitted a good quality photowith some speci c editing techniques.

    Date:

    10/18/13

    Course/Instructor:COMM 130 section 06Julie Peterson

    Program(s)/Tools:Canon PowerShot Camera, Photoshop CS6

Objectives:I learned how to better use Photoshop for basic editting with lters andhow to isolate an object and speci cally edit it. I learned some simplephotography tips for taking better composited pictures. I learned how toresize and crop images, along with change their resolution.

Process:For this project I rst had to take a camera out to the gardens on campus forsome good pictures. After taking some I reviewed what I took and chose myfavorite to edit. After playing around with the Photoshops editting optionsI chose to do a decolorization lter with an orange tint and very slightlydesaturated the background. I took the draft photo into class to be critiqued. After that I decided to add a little bit contrast to make it not look so at,along with adding more color/saturation/hue to the leaf so its not too out of

place with the background but still was the main focus. I nalized the photoeditting by resizing it to 6x6 inches for print.

EVENT ADDescription:My employer put me in charge of a news ier. He gave me the information, alogo and one image to use. He asked me to create a new layout that will beattractive and more inviting to read.

    Date:

    Course/Instructor:COMM 130 section 06Julie Peterson

    Program(s)/Tools:Microsoft Word

Objectives:That even though this was created through Word, the number of things youcan do on that platform really surprised me.Be careful when scanning animage from a magazine. Sometimes doesnt have the best resolution. Minelooks like it has a bad quality. Dont be afraid to play around with alignment. Iused it to contain some text boxes and I really like the look of it.

Process:First of all I needed to draft out ideas. We brought in our rst draft into classto get feedback. Right away I noticed the idea was similar to my Flier. So Iscratched out the rst draft and started the process of drawing drafts andplaying around with design to have a better ad. I feel as though this designhas more PARC-F and interesting factors than my other draft. Lastly we had toprint off the nal copy and turn it into class.
