Imagine for Design #1• Idea #1
• Our materials are dark cloth to absorb heat and Cotton balls it insulate the heat
• We need 1 unit of dark cloth=1sheet and 2 units of cotton balls=2cups
• The advantage of this idea is that dark cloth would b good to absorb the heat and make the box.
• The disadvantage of the materials is that we might not have enough Cotten balls for the experiment

Imagine for design #2• Idea #2
• Our materials are white colored cloth and the green colored foam
• We need 1 unit of white colored cloth= 1sheet and 2units of green colored cloth=2sheets
• The advantage of this idea is that the white colored cloth will insulate the heat and the green foam is a little dark so it will absorb the heat
• The disadvantage is they the white colored cloth may not insulate the heat as much as we want

material
Cotton balls 2 units
Tape them and smash them to
have more space to cover
Black cloth 1 unitPlace on
bottom and to absorb heat

Create for deign #1• Our heat score is our solar oven maximum
temperature subtracted from the control oven 56°C-55=1
• Our time score is the number of minutes it took to cool down which was 4 minutes
• Our total impact score was 9
• Our total score for the solar oven is -4

Improve for design #1• The total score for our solar oven design was -4
• The parts of our solar oven design that worked well were the black cloth because it absorbed a lot of heat that we wanted to
• The parts of our solar oven design that did not work well were the cotton balls because they didn't insulate the heat like we wanted to
• We will improve our heat score by have some dark foam because those dark colors will absorb more heat and also but felt on the bottom

Reflection• Our improved design did not work because the
green foam did not insulate enough. The black foam did not keep the heat in the heat as we thought because dark colors absorb heat, so we thought that it would hold it in.
• If we could improve again, we would get newspaper to insulate the heat and take out the black foam and the green foam and keep the red felt. The newspaper will go on the sides and a little bit on the outside of the felt while the felt is in the middle.
