The show is aired on MTV and the episode was aired on Saturday. NEW DELHI, (IANS) He is a singing sensation, a celebrated name in the Punjabi film industry and has won over Bollywood fans with his roles in films like "Udta Punjab" and "Phillauri". "No, I have not become a star yet... I do not feel like that currently," Diljit told IANS over phone from Mumbai. Diljit made his acting debut in 2011 with "The Lion of Punjab" and ventured into Bollywood in 2016 with "Udta Punjab". He has also sung numbers like "Proper patola", "This Singh is so stylish", "Do you know" and "5 taara", which have been chart-toppers. "I have miles to go. Right now, it is not the time that I look back and see what I have done or where I started from or where I have reached. As he is gaining popularity in Bollywood, will Punjabi films take a backseat? "No. Two of my Hindi films will release this year. But my love for Punjabi films is more. This year, my Punjabi film 'Rangroot' will release. It is based on World War I. This time it will be more fun," he said. Diljit finds both TV and films are "strong mediums. A good film will be etched in the minds of people. A film has its own spectacular journey and televi- sion has a quick response. I am doing this show be- cause of the way I perform live on stage and get a quick response," he added. On the film front, he will next be seen playing former In- dian hockey captain Sandeep Singh in the upcoming biopic "Soorma", which also stars Taapsee Pannu. "I had never played hockey and I am doing a film on hockey. I thought I'd only be able to do films that I can relate to, but since I am in this field, I would have to do new subjects that are not close to my real life. I have learnt hockey under the guidance of Sandeep Singh." Diljit also has "Arjun Patiala" with Kriti Sanon. FILMSHANKAR MAHADEVAN, WITH MONALI THAKUR AND DILJIT DOSANJH AT A PRESS CONFERENCE REGARDING THEIRUPCOMING MUSIC REALITY SHOW RISING STAR 2 IN MUMBAI.

'Padmaavat' to fly solo on January 25, 'Pad Man' shiftedMUMBAI, (IANS) It was set to be the first major box-office clash ofthe year on January 25, but in the interest of Sanjay LeelaBhansali's controversial drama "Padmaavat" -- set to hit thescreens after a lengthy row -- actor Akshay Kumar on Fridayannounced that he is shifting the release of his "Pad Man" toFebruary 9. "Bhansali sir asked me if I can move my film... See,we are one family and I can understand he has gone through alot, he has put a lot of money, the studio people have put a lot ofmoney. I would want 'Padmaavat' to release solo and would liketo wish him luck," Akshay told media persons here. He ad-dressed a joint press conference with Bhansali at his resi-dence. Bhansali, who has co-produced "Padmaavat" withViacom18 Motion Pictures, said he was grateful to Akshay forthe gesture."I requested Akshay if he can shift the film because he is sucha big star and our troubles might have increased if we wouldhave released the film together. "He knows all our troubles, sohe didn't even take two minutes and said, 'Whatever you want, however you want, I am with you'," Bhansali said, adding that hewill be grateful to Akshay for a "lifetime". Asked why "Pad Man"had to shift and not "Padmaavat", Akshay said: "They have a reasonto release it this time. It is very essential for them to release it asquickly as possible.

"The point is not about fighting or clashing... But at the moment, thestake of their film is much more higher than mine." Akshay's "PadMan" -- which marks his wife Twinke Khanna's maiden productionventure -- tells the story of a real-life superhero who invented alow-cost sanitary pad manufacturing machine to bring a menstrualhygiene revolution for women. Its unique story, inspiring message and Akshay's portrayal -- onceagain -- as a common man's hero, has kept the anticipation levelhigh for the R. Balki directorial, which also features Sonam Kapoorand Radhika Apte. Earlier, "Pad Man" was slated to clash with"Aiyaary". But after the makers of "Padmaavat" secured a U/Acer tificate from the censor board after incorporating five modifica-tions, and locked the release date as January 25 -- tapping into thelong Republic Day weekend -- the makers of "Aiyaary" shifted thefilm's release date to February 9.Now, the clash is back to square one, with even "Sonu Ke Titu KiSweety" crowding the February 9 date. It has been a long journeyfor "Padmaavat", which stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singhand Shahid Kapoor. From being assaulted on the film's set in Jaipurto his set being vandalised in Kolhapur to getting threats fromdetractors -- Bhansali has been facing the ire of organisations thatare up in arms against the period drama since its inception -- fromwhen it was titled "Padmavati".

It was the same case in"Bhaag Milkha Bhaag". After her per formance in "Neerja"which not only received positive reviews, but also gotSonam a special mention at the National Awards, has hercriteria for choosing a film changed?Sonam told IANS: "It is the combination of the story and mycharacter; screen timing does not matter to me, honestly. One does not have to be in every single frame of the film tocreate an impact of the character. If my par t is well-craf ted, even with three scenes, my character can make a majorimpact on the story. And that's what matters." Sonam saysshe is primarily interested in working with good directorsbecause filmmaking is a collaborative ar t where workingwith the right team brings the best of every creative indi-vidual. So, who are the director she wants to work with?"There are actually few directors that I would love to workwith again, like R. Balki, Rajkumar Hirani, Ram Madhvani.I loved working with them. That apart, I want to work withShoojit Sircar, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shimit Amin amongothers," she said. Despite her film choices, the tag of'fashionista' never goes away from her image. But shesays she will always remain unapologetic about it. "Ilove wearing make-up and beautiful clothes. I think thereis nothing wrong with it. If someone judges me basedon that, it is his problem not mine."Seriously, I think when it comes to films, in last few ofthem, all my directors wanted me not to wear make-upbecause they think I have very good skin. That is whythe no make-up looks. However, I do things in real lifethat I cannot get a chance to do on-screen. So yes, in publicevents, par ties I flaunt good clothes," said the actress, whohas featured in movies like "Raanjhanaa", "Khoobsurat"and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo". While Sonam's forthcomingrelease is "Pad Man", hitting the screens on January 25,later in the year she will be seen in "Veere Di Wedding"which will come out on June 1.

Guilt kept me away from working more with Nasir Hussain: RishiMUMBAI, (IANS) Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor says he would have worked more with Nasir Hussain but it was the guilt that kept himaway from working with the filmmaker. Rishi worked with Hussain in films like "Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai" and "Hum Kisise KumNaheen". "I worked with Nasir sahab in two movies. I would have worked with him in four movies but guilt kept me away. Isomehow felt that 'Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai' did not per form as well as 'Hum Kisise Kum Naheen', that's why I felt that I must havehur t Nasir sahab's feelings and hence shouldn't work with him," Rishi told Zee Classic as a par t of the ongoing Nasir Hussain FilmFestival on the channel, read a statement. The actor said Hussain would still call him and ask him to meet in his office. Pancham da, Majrooh Sultanpuri uncle, Nasir sahab and I were a fabulous team," he added. The actor, who has also worked in films like "Bobby", "Kabhie Kabhie", "P rem Rog" and "Bol Radha Bol", also revealed that Rs90,000 was spent on his costume for the song "Bachna ae haseeno" from the film "Hum Kisise Kum Naheen". Rs 90,000 was a lot of money, especially in 1975. The red hear t that I had worn with that outfit was borrowed fromNeetu's (Neetu Singh) friend who had purchased it in London. I told her that I wanted to wear it for that song," he added. Rishi saidHussain worked as hard on his music as he worked on his scripts.

'Vodka Diaries': A Thriller unlike any otherIt isn't often that we get to see a suspense thriller that daresto go that extra mile in pursuit of some novelty in a genre thatinvariably relies on cliche for effect."Vodka Diaries" is highon pegs of pungent potshots taken at the suspense genre. Itdefies the ground rules laid down by the architects of thesuspense genre (whoever they might be) and deconstructsthe entire edifice of intrigue into a cat-and-mouse chasewhich culminates in a frightening psychological disorder. The film opens with an impressive severe topshot of adistraught K.K. Menon running through the snow of what wesoon come to know is Manali (a badge on a cop's shouldermentions HP). It's a breathtaking shot and kudos tocinematographer Manish Chandra Bhatt. You suspect debutantdirector Kushal Shrivastava constructed the entire plot ofsuspicion and murder from this visually surcharged star ting-point.Luckily for the debutant director, and for us, the narrativesuffers from no serious star ter's hiccups. It gets involved inits own complexities without losing track of the myriadcharacters' motivations. The very talented K.K. Menon takesa bit of time to settle into the wheels-within-wheels that runthrough the narrative in scampering motions. He tends toover-do the intense yet ironic interpolations of the character. This is a problem, since Menon is to be found in every frame, dominating the proceedings even when sharing awkwardromantic moments with Mandira Bedi. But Menon soonsettles down to a distraught destiny set aside for his

character.Bedi, I might add, is an asset to any enter tainment venue sheis given to occupy. We just don't see enough of her. Not evenin this film where she has a limited screen occupancy. Andshe makes the best of it.But after Menon, the actor with thebest lines and moments is Sharib Hashmi. Last seen as thepoor man's padman in "Phullu", Hashmi chews eagerly onevery scene provided to him as Menon's sidekick.Raima Sen, another beautiful and neglected actress, walks inand out of the proceedings as though shooting in bouts whenon vacation. There are several such cameos in the plot. And Iheld my breath to see how the director Kushal Shrivastavaand his writer Vaibhav Bajpai balance out the ostensible out-of-control plot about a cop who seem be losing control overthe goings-on. Luckily the director never loses the plot as hemanoeuvres the tricky suspense through a maze of deceptionand delusion, on to a bumpy but safe landing."Vodka Diaries" is not a great suspense drama whencompared with the Hitchcockian tradition. God knows, thegenre has not been much explored in Bollywood. Still in itsinfancy the whodunit gets a rather likable shake-up on thisoccasion. "Vodka Diaries" stays true to the path of deceptionand betrayal that the suspense genre adapts and makes somesharp swings into the unexpected towards the end. Do stay forthe end credits to hear Rekha Bhardwaj and Ustad RashidKhan crooning "Sakhi ri". It's a sobering send-off to asuspenseful and original journey.
