How old are you?

When asking our audience how old they were, the majority of people stated that they were between the ages of 16-21. This means that we will make a documentary which is appealing to this age group and therefore make it so that it is unsuitable for children and rather made for young adults. Although, because a chunk of our audience is also above the age of 31, we will make the documentary slightly related to them, but we will mostly focus on making a documentary in which is appealing to the ages of 16-21 year olds, as this is our obvious target audience.

Have you had this bad habit all your life?

Our results show that it is evenly split on whether people are born with ths habit/addiction or whether they've picked it up within their life. This could possibly make our documentary more interesting because we could research whether there are social impacts etc on the developments of some habits/strange addictions.

If you haven't, when did your habit start?

Above, our results show us that there are so many reasons why people develop habits or addictions, from the root of a breakup, stress, social impacts etc. This makes our documentary appear to have more routes and possibilities and we can now talk about the roots of our addictions/habits, how do they become a part of our everyday life??

Page 12: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

Are you embarrassed about your habit or addiction?

Have you tried to quit this habit/addiction?

Our results show us that over half of the people want to quit their bad habit or their addiction. This gives us an idea on who we should interview to make sure it relates to any viewer. For example we could possibly find someone who has tried to quit and someone who has not tired and ask if she/he wants to quit and why.

Page 14: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

If not, do you plan on quitting?

This shows over half of the people who have not tried to quit their habit/addiction does not want to quit their addiction. This then reinforces the idea of finding someone who has not tried to quit and ask if they are going to try or not and what is their reasoning for choosing to quit or not.

Page 15: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

If you were to stop, why would that be?

These results shows us that there is a slight pattern. For example the majority of people have said they would stop their habit/addiction for a health reasons, one is because of pregnancy. Another main reason for stopping in because of the cost of the habit addiction. A lot of people said their habit is nail biting so there are some reasons that are about them wanting their nails to look nicer. Some people are embarrassed or are being made fun of because of their habit and want to quit.

Are there any habits of yours that you don't consider to be bad?

Almost 75% of people said no. This shows that the majority of people think that any habit is a bad habit, that there are no habits that are considered good. This is a statistic that could be read out by the voice over.

Page 17: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

If yes, what is it?

Out of the 17 people who answered it 3 people think that pen clicking is not a bad habit. 3 people believe that drugs are not a bad addiction.

There are other habits there that can link to nervous behavior such as tapping, hair twiddling grinding teeth and pen clicking can also go under that category. This possibly shows that people do not think they aren’t bad because they are linked to a natural response to when someone is nervous

Page 18: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

Does your habit/addiction cost you any money?

Over half of the people’s addictions costs money. This links to why people would stop because the habit/addictions may end up costing too much. This could be a good question to ask because we could see the range of prices people or don’t pay for their habit/addictions.

Page 19: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

If yes, would you say it is expensive?

Over half of the people’s habit/addictions are considered expensive reinforcing the idea of people wanting to quit because it costs too much money to fund.

Also reinforces the idea of it being a good topic to talk about when interviewing the interviewee about their addiction. We could see why they think it is expensive or if the price put them off at the start of the habit/addiction, or if the habit/addiction didn’t cost anything at the start but then started to cost money later on.

Do you know anyone else who has this habit or addiction?

Nearly 90% of people know someone else who has the same addiction, showing that most of the habit/addictions are common and will possibly be easy to find to interview a person with that habit/addictions. Because of people having that same habit/addictions the documentary could relate to anyone watching.

Page 21: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

Do you think this habit/addiction is common?

Again we see that people think that the habit/addictions mentioned are common so we well be able to create a relatable documentary aimed for anyone who has a habit or an addiction.

The fact that some of these habit/addictions are common could mean that we don’t necessary need to interview someone with an addiction or habit because they could give us their opinions on what they think about people who do things such as smoke and take drugs, or if they find people who click their pen annoying.

Page 22: ‘Have you got a bad habit or a strange addiction ’ survey results.

If yes, why do you think that it is common?

A lot of people see some of the habits as something someone with anxiety does or someone who is nervous or stressed. There is also a couple people who put addictions such as drugs and smoking as something that people are peer pressured into doing. Some people see these addictions as something cool to do for popularity. Other people see it as exactly what it is, an addiction, that someone can’t control Eg smoking because of the nicotine in it that keeps people addicted to it and they then find it hard to get out of the habit of smoking.
