CALLING OF THE MEETING: Vice President Fortmeyer called the meeting to order at 7:03 p.m.
EXECUTIVE SESSION (7:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M.) Motion (Ms. Macaluso, second Mrs. Mass) at 7:03 p.m. to go
into executive session to discuss collective bargaining and specific personnel.

PLEDGE TO THE FLAG: A moment of silence was held after the Pledge of Allegiance for Linda Turf, a
teaching assistant, who passed away recently.

B. LOTE National Exam Achievements: French/German/Spanish – Mrs. Lillian Carey introduced the
following students who were recognized for their achievements on the LOTE National Exams: Elodie

E. Long Island Math Fair – Dr. Don Murphy introduced Danielle Gerardi who was recognized for her
achievements at the Long Island Math Fair.
F. Long Island Scholar-Artist – Ms. Laura Stiegelmaier and Mrs. Ruthie Pincus introduced Billy Recce
who was recognized for his achievement as a Long Island Scholar-Artist
G. Long Island Council for Social Studies Harry C. Charles Outstanding Social Studies Supervisor Award –
Mr. Glen Eschbach introduced Ms. Doreen Gordon who was recognized as winner of this award.
H. Retiring Trustees of the Board of Education – Mr. Gary Fortmeyer introduced Ms. Ann Macaluso and
Mrs. Eileen Mass who will be retiring at the end of their terms on 6/30/15. He offered kind words and
thanked them for their years of service
I. Retiring Audit Committee Member – Mr. James Kiley introduced Mr. Keith Sumwalt who will be
retiring at the end of his term on 6/30/15 and thanked him for his service
J. Staff Retirements – Ms. Maryann Fletcher, Ms. Kristen Reingold, Mr. George Gagliardi, and Mr.
Anthony Clements introduced the following retirees who were recognized for their many years of
service at Hauppauge School District: Rosemarie Caravana, Marie Dacey, Brenda DePetris, Kathleen
Hill, Louise Scala, Carlene Shernowitz, Dorothy Baebler, Jose Centano, Gerard Degen, Milo Every,
Leonard Postillo, and Andrew Parrucci, Jr.
PRESENTATION:
A. Annual School District Report Card – Mrs. Sullivan-Kriss explained that the District is required to
present the Annual School District Report Card and introduced Mr. Glen Eschbach who presented an
overview.
B. Code of Conduct Public Hearing – Mr. Joseph Tasman presented the changes to the Code of Conduct,
which were recommended by the Code of Conduct Committee. He explained that the District is
required to hold a public hearing to review the changes. The revised Code of Conduct will be adopted
at the annual organizational meeting on July 7, 2015.
SUPERINTENDENT’S UPDATE / COMMENTS
Mrs. Kriss offered congratulations to all of the students and staff who were recognized this evening. She also
congratulated Nick Fanti who is the first Hauppauge student to be drafted out of high school by a professional
sports team, the Philadelphia Phillies. Nick also received the “Carl Yastrzemski Award” which is presented to
Suffolk County’s best baseball player.
Mrs. Kriss offered congratulations to Mr. Michael Kearns, District Treasurer, on the birth of his baby girl.
Mrs. Kriss shared with the Board and community that the Board of Regents issued a new proposal for teacher
evaluations. They recommended a four month extension as far as requirements of establishing new APPR in
districts.
Mrs. Kriss advised that the agenda had been changed, items 7.1A and 7.1B have been removed.
QUESTION AND COMMENTS REGARDING TONIGHT’S AGENDA ONLY
Members of the public who desire to address the board on any topic which is on tonight’s agenda are welcome to do so at this time. Speakers are requested to limit their remarks to not more than three minutes, to appoint a spokesperson if the concern is a group concern, and to supplement verbal presentations with written
reports, if necessary or desired. Twenty minutes are being scheduled for this portion of tonight’s agenda.
Congratulations were offered to the Superintendent on her appointment to serve on the New York State
Blue Ribbon Commission on the Arts

COMMITTEE REPORTS
A. Policy Committee: Mr. Barshay reported that the Policy committee met last week and is proffering eight
policies tonight for adoption. Another meeting is scheduled for 6/24/15.
B. Audit Committee: Mr. Kiley reported that the Audit Committee will be meeting to interview a
candidate to replace Mr. Sumwalt and will make a recommendation to Board.
C. District Steering Committee: No action.
D. HIV/Aids Committee: No action.
E. Code of Conduct Committee: The public hearing on Code of Conduct was this evening. The revised
Code of Conduct will be on the organizational agenda.
F. Safety Committee: Mr. Fortmeyer reported that the Safety Committee met on 6/5/15 to discuss the
status of construction throughout the district, carbon monoxide and Suffolk County standards regarding
underground tank monitoring.
G. Advocacy Committee: No action
H. Organizational Planning Committee: No action
I. Bond Committee: No Action
J. Architect Committee: Mr. Scarito reported that the Architect Committee will met two weeks from now
for a meeting to review RFP’s and architect conduct interviews.
K. Islip Town School Boards Association: No action.
