GM’s NotesThe face of Charlie Market is changing so much that it looks like it might be lost when the new construction is complete. It has been rumoured the market and surrounding houses will make way for even more development and so, if that’s the case, another hill will disappear and more congestion will hit the Island, since the infrastructure is certainly not keeping up with the building nor the amount of traffic on the roads.

At the runsite in the evening hashers trickled in. They were given instructions by the hare and off they loped. Five minutes later the On Sec and other half drove in, victims of our ever growing traffic chaos. At the same time a couple, Heather and John arrived by taxi. They were on holiday and had heard about us and decided to join us for the evening. When ready, Frank took them under his wing and took them on the run.

The run itself was not a difficult one but trying to come up with different routes each time is quite challenging as the main run setter is the same for a number of Chapters. This run went along the highway before turning left and climbed the hill towards Mt Olivia, however before reaching the top the paper went to the right skirted a bit and then went down before swinging around once more and

climbed, this time to the ridge proper, turning left and then heading down the route towards the Chinese cemetery on Mt. Erskine Rd. Just before the top of the second climb we came upon an open grave, minus the coffin I am happy to say, surrounded by joss sticks and plastic plates upon which food must have been placed to appease the ‘spirits’.

Akz Hole came out at 6.45 but he started early and Good Year was out in 55 minutes. Money then proceeded to grill GY to find out whether he short-cutted or not. It would appear though he did the whole run this week!! The rest followed in due course.

The hare, with help from his bunny, had set up the food counter and was busy making punch with vodka and rum to aid the thirsty drinkers. With curry puffs and wanton as appetizers, the evening was beginning to swing once more.

Frank arrived back without the guests but assured me that they were ‘just behind’ with the rest of the slow runners and sure enough within 5 minutes or so all were out in the light. Our guests were saying how much fun they had had and as it was Heather’s virgin run the HHH Penang is now her Mother Hash, which she was very pleased about.

Food was served, beers and punch were drunk and around 8.00 we had the circle.

Many thanks Viking for a wonderful evening and your generous food and drink contribution.

PLEASE NOTE NEXT WEEK’S RUN HAS CHANGED. IT IS NOW LONGHAIR’S RUN AT YOUTH PARK NEW CAR PARK.

Circle.1. Our Guests Heather and John from Florida were made most welcome and we cooled their bums

for them as they looked a little hot!!

2. Then the GM called out the “Master and the Student” in the form of Money and Good Year. Each vie with each other to come out first and many times short cut to achieve their goal. Money grilled GY after his return and said the GY was the Master and he was just the student!!

3. The May birthday babies were then given a rousing Happy Birthday and the celebration cake. Only Pussycat and Viking were present though but we wish all those with a May birthday a happyone too.

4. The General the charged the GM with saying that the run was NOT the same as the Tuesday one which was held at the same venue. The General stated it was the same run except for about <1%

5. Hot Lips was next on ice after a charge from Viking. Apparently she did not attend her own Tuesday run it seems!!

6. It’s the VGM’s responsibility to get the cake for the month end birthday celebration. Speedhoundforgot this month and so had to borrow a motor bike to quickly go to the shop to get one!!

7. The GM then called Akz Hole to the ice. He went in early under the pretext of being very slow these days and was reported to have said “you can put me on ice too if you want as I could do with the beer”.

8. The final icing was naturally reserved for the Hare of the day, Viking. Grateful thanks were bestowed upon him for the run, the excellent food and not withstanding, the punch capped off by more free beers. How generous!!!
