    The Mahabharata knows Haryana as the land of

    plentiful grains (Bahudhanyaka)

    Haryana was carved out of the Indian state of

    Punjab on 1st November 1966. 4TH Highest per capita income(Rs27,824 p.a.).

    About 80% population of the State is engaged in

    agriculture.

    Haryana is among the most prosperous states in

    India.

    Literacy rate is 67.9%.

    NSDP growth rate is about 6.5% annual.

    During 2008-2009 the industrial sector grew at 10.7

    percent per annum.

    Agriculture contributes 29 per cent to the GDP of thestate.

    Per capita income is Rs27,824 p.a.

    Third largest exporter of software, one of the preferred

    destinations for IT/ITES facilities. Industrial hubs:- Gurgaon, Sonepat, Ambala,

    Faridabad, Panipat, Hisar, Yamunanagar .

    INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

    Haryana State Industrial Development Corporation (HSIDC) will be

    the nodal agency for infrastructure development and would be

    converted into Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure

    Development Corporation (HSIIDC).

    Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway has been undertaken byHSIDC.

    HSIDC has already envisaged one such zone over an area of 3000

    acres at Garhi Harsru, New Gurgaon.

    The State Government shall also promote public and private sector

    initiative for establishing SEZs on KMP artery, NH 10, NH 8 andNH 2.

    There is a proposal to develop an Industrial Park in and around

    Panipat for the development of down stream industries.

    SUPPORTIVE INFRASTRUCTURESUPPORTIVE INFRASTRUCTURE

    Haryanas total available installed generation capacity is 4033.3 MW,which was just 343 MW at the time of its inception. The State

    Government has proposed to add over 3000 MW power generation

    capacity during 10th and 11th Five Year Plan.

    Recent proposed power plants are ; Yamunanagar, Hissar.

    The State has already conceived one mega project for the constructionof KundliManesar-Palwal Expressway. The other projects

    in the pipeline are Badarpur fly-over between Delhi and Faridabad, the

    Panipat flyover, Elevated highways between Gurgaon-Delhi, and

    Bahadurgarh-Delhi.

    Extension ofDelhi Metro Rail to Gurgaon and Manesar and its

    connectivity to Bahadurgarh, Sonepat and Faridabad shall also be takenup.

    State Government as a matter of policy is encouraging pipelining and

    distribution of CNG in the Transport and Domestic Sector. Efforts are

    being made to spread the use of natural gas in the industrial, commercial

    and power sector.

    SOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURESOCIAL INFRASTRUCTURE

    Haryana has been a leader in development of tourism. It is

    proposed to develop destination tourism and

    entertainment parks.

    Secondary level schools are available in a radius of 2.62

    kilometers.

    Ch. Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hissar.

    The state has a domestic airport at Chandigarh.

    There are civil aerodromes at Pinjore, Karnal, Hisar,

    Bhiwani and Narnaul

    All the major telecom players like Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL,

    Reliance and Idea have a presence in the state.

    e-GOVERNANCEe-GOVERNANCE

    e-Disha:- an initiative for setting up district level centres to

    provide timely and effective information to citizens

    regarding various transactions entered into with the

    government departments at district and lower levels at a

    single window point. e-Disha centres have been set up in18 districts. Each centre provides services within specified

    time lines.

    e-Food.net: This is a web-based decision support system

    which has made the procurement and storage of food

    grains in the state flexible. Data is captured from mandis(markets) during procurement by various agencies into a

    web-enabled software.

    STRENGTHS

    Haryana is investor friendly policy environment & has

    competitive advantage in terms of strategic location, basic

    infrastructure as well as large skilled, educated & young. Agriculture contribution of 28.2% of GDP of the state.

    Chandigarh(capital of Haryana) is the first planned city of

    India.

    It is known as the land of milk with highest production ofdairy products in country.

    tech like nanotech, Bio tech, mobile computing &

    robotics.

    competition to Haryana e.g.Bangalore.

    competition with Gujarat.

    INCENTIVES & CONCESSIONS

    FOR MEGA PROJECTS IN BACKWARD AREAS:-Mega project withinvestment of Rs.100 crore and above or any project employing more than

    500 persons irrespective of investment to be set up in the backward areas

    would be extended the facility of financial assistance to be quantified at, 50%

    of the tax paid on the sale of goods produced by such industrial units,

    Incentives for SSI in Backward Areas:- 50% of the tax paid on the sale of

    goods produced in such industrial units, Incentives for Exporting Units:- subsidy up to 1% of the FOB value of

    exports subject to maximum of Rs.10.00 Lac per annum shall be given.

    Incentives for Food Processing Industries:- Interest Free Loan at the rate

    of 75% of the tax paid on the sale of goods produced in such industrial units

    shall be given.

    Wines/liquors/Brandy etc. made from 100% fruits produce in the State will be

    exempted from the Excise Duty in backward areas.

    WHY AUTOMOBILE

    Automobile industry is one of the most booming sectors

    in India. even in the time of recession the boom in the

    industry was excellent from June to Sep 2009 the growth

    of the Industry was over 40%.

    The key competitive strength of the state in the

    automobiles and auto components industries is the

    presence of established manufacturers.

    A number of existing auto component suppliers are

    expanding capacities in their plants.
