You can step back into time at the Harvest Festival with a perennial favorite – DonaldPeters’ horse and buggy rides. Donald also has ponies on the festival grounds so that kids –and the young at heart – can experience the simple pleasure of horsemanship. Somewhere along the line, that col-lection of junk turned into works of

School, where the art teacher encour-aged him to paint outside the lines –while the shop teacher taught him tocut precisely along the lines.

He put the two skills together andbegan redoing furniture once heretired from the phone company.

“That got boring quick,” he remem-

bers, so Terry turned from renovatingto reimagining, taking discardedpieces of wood, glass and metal, painting colorful scenes upon them, then combining them with otherobjects to create distinctive, uniquepieces of art.

“I’d just see a board with a shape onit and would get an idea,” he explains.

He’s currently painting a frog on an

old dresser board, which will proba-bly sell within his usual range of $50-$100 during one of the upcomingHarvest Festivals.

Indeed, that’s the only place you’llfind his creations this season – andhe’s looking forward to it.

“The place is so nice,” he nods, “andthe people are so friendly. I just havean enjoyable time!”

Sitting in TerryHulse’s basementawaiting display atthe Harvest Festivalare some of hisnewest works of art:a sign featuring afictitious lodge butreal deer antlers, arainbow flag of wel-come, and a coatrack made of foundwood, doorknobsand an old ski.
